Serie A has been the home of some of the sport's most legendary strikers.

Since calcio was brought to the wider public in the aftermath of Italia '90, Serie A has been recognised as one of the toughest leagues in Europe for strikers.

With some of the best defending in the world, the league's best strikers tend to be recognised worldwide.

Here are the top 10 over the last 20 years with video highlights of some of their best goals.

10. Antonio Di Natale


100 Di Natale goals (Part 2)

Antonio Di Natale is something of an evergreen.

The 34-year-old has got better with age and has been the capocannoniere of Serie A two years running.

The Neapolitan has found a home for the last eight seasons with Udinese.

Di Natale has scored 145 goals in 308 Serie A games.

9. David Trezeguet


100 Trezeguet goals (Part 2)

David Trezeguet was a phenomenal striker in his 10 years with Juventus.

He became a Bianconeri legend by scoring 138 goals in 242 league games.

He greatest season was in the 2001-02 season when he was voted Serie A Footballer of the Year.

8. Hernan Crespo


Hernan Crespo's capocannoniere season with Lazio in 2000/01

Hernan Crespo will go down as one of Serie A's greatest strikers.

The Argentine has had successful spells with Parma, Lazio, Inter, Milan and Genoa.

Crespo has scored 153 goals in 335 league games.

7. Christian Vieri


100 Vieri goals with Inter Milan

Christian Vieri was one of the most prolific Italian strikers over the last 20 years.

Vieri enjoyed spells with several clubs but will be most known for his record-breaking six years with Inter Milan from 1999-2005.

Vieri scored 103 goals in 143 league games for the Nerazzurri.

In total, "Bobo," as he was affectionately known, scored 167 goals in 344 Serie A games.

6. Filippo Inzaghi


Top 10 Inzaghi goals for Milan

Filippo Inzaghi has been a great striker and has become an icon with AC Milan.

Pippo enjoyed great spells with Atalanta and Juventus, but will always be a Rossoneri legend.

Inzaghi scored both goals in Milan's 2007 UEFA Champions League final as the Rossoneri beat Liverpool, 2-1.

Inzaghi scored 155 goals in 367 Serie A games.

5. Gabriel Batistuta


Top 20 Batistuta goals

Gabriel Batistuta is another foreign Serie A icon.

The  Argentine made his name with Fiorentina, but also had a great spell with Roma and a brief stint with Inter.

Batigol had a brilliantly nine years in Florence with 168 goals in 269 league games.

In total, Batistuta scored 184 goals in 318 Serie A games.

4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic


Top 30 Zlatan goals

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the greatest ever Serie A imports.

Ibrahimovic has been astounding since joining Juventus from Ajax in 2004 and has spent his time in Serie A since apart from one year at Barcelona.

Ibrahimovic has so far scored 109 goals in 205 Serie A games with Juve, Inter and Milan.

3. Francesco Totti

Francesco Totti is climbing up the all time Serie A goalscoring charts.

Il Capitano currently has 211 goals (in 488 league games) and is fifth behind Jose Altafini, Giuseppe Meazza, Gunnar Nordahl and Silvio Piola.

2. Andriy Shevchenko


Top 10 Sheva goals at Milan

Andriy Shevchenko will always be known as one of Serie A's greatest strikers,

The Ukrainian was prolific in his first spell with AC Milan where he spent seven years.

Sheva scored 127 goals in 208 league games before signing for Chelsea for £30 million.

1. Alessandro Del Piero


Del Piero - The Only One

Alessandro Del Piero is well deserving of being the greatest striker in Serie A over the last two decades.

Del Piero has entertained all calcio fans with moments of sheer brilliance in the Bianconeri shirt.

Del Piero has scored 185 goals in 468 league games and is still going strong.

His latest goal against Roma in the Coppa Italia, at the age of 37 years old, is worth a watch.

Del Piero is the greatest.
