Ronald Darby is as highly regarded of a cornerback prospect as there is in the nation, and he has decided to attend Florida State for his freshman campaign next season.

ESPN ranks him as the third-best corner and the 38th-best prospect in the country, whereas Rivals ranks him the second-rated corner and 68th overall prospect.

He wanted to run track and will be able to do so with the Seminoles, but we are making some bold predictions for his football career here.

Freshman Season Is Impactful as the Third or Fourth Corner

Ronald Darby will likely be stuck behind Greg Reid and Xavier Rhodes simply due to the fact that the returning duo ranks among the best in the entire country.

A few other corners could steal some playing time from Darby, but the talent he has cannot be denied.

Throw in LaMarcus Joyner, Terrence Brooks, Nick Moody and Karlos Williams at safety, and the addition of Darby only adds even more athleticism and speed in the secondary.

Darby Adds Depth, Makes FSU Secondary Top 5

LaMarcus Joyner, Greg Reid and Xavier Rhodes are three stars that are expected to become All-ACC performers, as well as All-Americans, in the near future.

Reid is entering his senior campaign, whereas Joyner and Rhodes will only be juniors. Joyner carried the Seminoles in the Champs Sports Bowl after both Greg Reid and Xavier Rhodes went out of the game due to injuries.

The depth will never be a concern, since they have a bunch of guys that can pluck pigskins all day and make up a ton of ground as well.

Look for Mr. Darby to be the one youngster on this defensive team, which includes guys like Edwards, Casher and Goldman, that puts this group over the top.

It would be a little too much to bank on a national championship, though the predictions and expectations could be there sometime during the summer before the season gets underway.

Plus, it is still not even the spring yet, and Ronald Darby can only do so much as a corner (possible returner, special teamer).

However, he is one of the best defensive backs in the country for a reason, and I expect nothing less than an ACC Championship thanks to a defense that is absolutely loaded with explosives and electrifying playmakers.
