Michigan Football Recruiting: Dennis Norfleet Drops Bearcats for Wolverines
Four-star running back Dennis Norfleet has had a last-second change of heart, and will attend the University of Michigan instead of Cincinnati next year, according to Steve Wiltfong of MichiganSports247.com.
The Wolverines came in with a scholarship offer on Tuesday, and the Martin Luther King High School star decided that he wanted to stay close to home. Wiltfong writes:
"“(Tuesday) was a dream come true and it’s something you can’t get often,” Norfleet said. “It’s a big day for me.”
The big day started after school and before Norfleet left for his basketball game. His grandfather told him he had good news for him coming after the game. Unfortunately Norfleet and King lost, and his grandfather told him to hurry back to the house.
“I get home and he puts some papers in front of my face,” Norfleet said. “I said what’s this? He said read it, and I saw it was Michigan.”
"
Norfleet only enhances what has been a fantastic recruiting season for second-year head coach Brady Hoke and his staff.
According to Rivals.com, the Wolverines have the fifth-best recruiting class in the country. This program has come back in a big way after the dark days under Rich Rodriguez.
There is a lot left to be sorted out on national signing day, but the Wolverines have a lot to be smiling about already.
Norfleet is the No. 5 running back in this year's class. He has flown under the radar this recruiting season, but his speed and aggressiveness with the ball was enough to convince Michigan to swoop in at the last minute to swipe him away from Cincinnati.
This is the first major flip-flop of national signing day, and a sign that things could get crazy as the day moves on.
