With all of the talk about who could possibly steal the 2012 Royal Rumble spotlight and walk away victorious, many people have asked me what my personal thoughts are on the subject.

I think Randy Orton will win the Rumble this year.

While on the surface, the fact that the event is being held in St. Louis, Orton’s home town, should make him a shoe-in for a win, the WWE has proved time and time again that it rather have you lose in your hometown than win. It’s horrible but true; just ask Edge, Bret Hart, John Cena or any other WWE superstar.

As much as that has been true in the past, this is the prodigal son of the WWE and part of the new kliq. Randy Orton lost his title in September and the company wants him back in main event picture sooner rather than later.

With all considered, the return of the Viper on Friday night SmackDown was to show the WWE crowd that he was ready for a run in the Rumble match. With so many stars looking strong and little to no mention of RKO, you can’t help but think WWE has something up their sleeves.

Another consideration that has to be made is that one of the biggest villains on SmackDown—Mark Henry—could be out for an extended amount of time with several injuries. As good as Big Show has been, he should not be involved in the World Title picture.

If Daniel Bryan is going to remain champion, he needs a great opponent to make his character work, Randy Orton would be that guy.

I may love a Daniel Bryan Orton feud at WrestleMania more than I thought I would.
