Greg Schiano will be the new head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and not only is he making a mistake, so is Tampa Bay.

According to Brett McMurphy of CBSSports, Schiano will leave Rutgers for the NFL

Adam Schefter of ESPN confirmed it all by tweeting out the official word and how long Schiano's contract will be.

Having coached for Rutgers since 2001, Schiano's name has come up for a lot of head coaching vacancies. Most of them are for college football teams, though, which is why it was a big surprise to hear his name emerge as the guy the Bucs want.

Tampa Bay has had a hard time finding a new head coach, and they thought they had their guy in Chip Kelly. Unfortunately, Kelly opted to stay with Oregon, leaving Tampa Bay in a bind.

Schiano does have NFL experience, but that was way back in 1998. He was a defensive backs coach for the Chicago Bears, but he's spent the majority of his coaching days at the college level.

It's tough for college coaches to come into the NFL and have success. Just ask Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier. They're stellar college coaches, but their time in the NFL was short-lived and not worth remembering.

The Bucs are making a terrible decision here, as Schiano is not going to find success in the NFL. Schiano hasn't even found greatness at the college level, so Tampa Bay is certainly delusional thinking he will reach it in the NFL.

Schiano is 68-67 during his time with Rutgers, never once winning the Big East. Having had a difficult time in the worst BCS conference in college football, there is no way Schiano will succeed in the NFL.

Tampa Bay needed to pick a veteran coach with great experience at the NFL level. They were looking at Mike Sherman, who is a far better option than Schiano.

The NFC South is no easy division, especially with Cam Newton doing his best to help turn around the Carolina Panthers

After a 4-12 season, Tampa Bay had no choice but to make changes. However, they've made a horrible decision in hiring Schiano to call the shots.

It won't be long before the Bucs realize their mistake, as they're more than likely going to search for a new head coach in just a few short years.
