Kevin De Bruyne Rumoured Transfer to Chelsea F.C. Makes Little Sense

Kevin De Bruyne is close to making a move to Chelsea, but that doesn't mean the Blues are solving any problems.
According to a Genk spokesman: "The assumption is that Kevin De Bruyne will be transferred to Chelsea and then finish the season (on loan) at Genk."
Wait, what?
So, other than bringing in a possibly overrated Gary Cahill, Chelsea's big move is acquiring a midfielder who won't even play for them this year?
Look, I'm of the philosophy that January moves don't save the season. Fernando Torres is the perfect example of a disaster that can result from a transfer in January.
Instead of worrying about this year, Chelsea Manager André Villas-Boas decided to plan for the future, which doesn't make a lot of sense.
Villas-Boas needs to win now.
I like him as a manager. If given the time, I think he can win plenty of trophies for the Blues. With that said, club owner Roman Abramovich doesn't necessarily have the same foresight.
Villas-Boas needs to win quickly and often if he wants to stick around, and planning for the future doesn't get that job done.
Jose Mourinho managed for three years under Abramovich. Other than him, Carlo Ancelotti is the only one to make it multiple seasons (two.)
In addition, this move simply didn't need to be made.
Do you like this move at this time?
In this window, Chelsea needed to make the Cahill move. After that, loan some players out and stand pat.
This move just brings up more questions. Villas-Boas is aware of the immense pressure he's under, but this move looks like he's trying too hard to change everything all at once.
And there is no reason to think De Bruyne would even make the starting XI for Chelsea.
He's done a great job for Genk, and he should be commended for that. However, if Romelu Lukaku can't make the first team at Chelsea, why should De Bruyne be able to make the cut?
The simple answer is he probably wouldn't.
Additionally, Josh McEachran has long been considered one of the top young midfielders in England. Nevertheless, he has only started seven matches for the Blues, with 15 other appearances to his name.
McEachran has been talked about for a few years now, and he just went out on loan. The loan to Swansea City should be good for him.
However, the loan exemplifies the fact that McEachran isn't ready to start for Chelsea. If he isn't ready, there is no reason to think De Bruyne would be ready.
In a few years, De Bruyne may be a spectacular midfielder for Chelsea. With that said, it doesn't mean this move needed to happen now.
Villas-Boas needs to think about the current situation. This move shows a panicked manager, not to mention De Bruyne might not make the starting XI anytime soon.
It doesn't make much sense.
