Ohio State Football Recruiting: Prospects That'll Help Urban Meyer Rock Big Ten

Urban Meyer walks into an already illustrious Ohio State program that has lost its way a bit. With that in mind, Meyer has made it his job to instill that unwavering confidence back to his school.

Recruiting is one of Meyer’s biggest strengths and he wasted no time analyzing the committed talent and getting the right players on his team.

While all of the following players are enrolled at Ohio State, given Meyer's penchant for smooth-talking, it won’t be long before they’re all Buckeyes.

Stefon Diggs

One of the most coveted prospects in all of college football, Stefon Diggs is the kind of playmaker that Urban Meyer should love. Diggs would become this team’s version of Percy Harvin in Florida.

While Meyer and his staff mold Diggs into the player they need him to be, either a wide receiver or running back, they can use him as both. The idea is to just get the ball to Diggs in the open field and let him work his magic.

It’s true Diggs  hasn’t made his decision yet, but once he sees those championship rings on Meyer’s fingers and he starts telling him the old war stories, Diggs will be signing his letter of intent then and there.

Blake Thomas

At 6’4” and 240 pounds, Blake Thomas could be the most underrated weapon Meyer has on his new team. Tight ends always thrive under Meyer.

With the catching ability and speed of Thomas, Meyer will work to mold him in the form of his former prodigy Aaron Hernandez, who is currently snagging passes in New England.

Meyer can get the most out of almost any athlete and Thomas has the chance to be the ultimate utility tight end. I expect him to catch the ball a lot this season and run it more than most teams can believe.

Cardale Jones

This is a prospect Meyer has to be very excited about. Cardale Jones is a 6’5" quarterback with stellar speed and a strong arm. While his frame is comparable to Cam Newton’s, I see more of a Terrelle Pryor type.

The truth is that no matter how you compare him, he will be running the Tim Tebow offense in Ohio State. That is a lot to live up to, but the feeling is he could be the future of the Buckeyes.

With open competition at almost every position for Meyer, There is nothing to say Jones couldn’t win the job outright if he shows that he can protect the ball. If Jones gets some snaps this season, he could be a star within two seasons.
