Mike Current: Former Denver Bronco Facing Child Sex Charges at Time of Suicide
Mike Current, who played for the Denver Broncos as an offensive lineman from 1967-1975, was found dead in Oregon on Monday due to an apparent gunshot wound to the head. According to the Denver Post, he was facing more than 30 years in prison at the time of his death for child-sex charges.
The report states that he was set to enter into a plea agreement in which he would be given six years and three months in prison for each of the five sex-abuse charges that were brought against him.
The charges were brought against him in November and he spent a week in prison earlier this month before posting bond.

"In November, Current, who lived in Silverton from the mid-2000s to 2010, was charged with five counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of luring a minor, according to the Marion County district attorney's office. The alleged offenses occurred at an unspecified address in Marion County.
Current was accused of sexually assaulting three victims — all 14 or younger — at least five times between 2004 and 2010. He allegedly used pornography, such as videos and photos, to elicit sex from the children.
"
This whole story is sad and quite disturbing. Current clearly had some issues of his own, which is to say nothing of what is alleged to have happened to the victims in this case.
How do these kind of stories and accusations keep happening? Current's situation joins the Jerry Sandusky case at Penn State and the Bernie Fine allegations at Syracuse. It was reported on Tuesday that former PGA Tour professional Steve Thomas was arrested in an online underage sex sting operation.
