Eagles' Defense Dominates Vikings, Tarvaris Jackson Just Not Good Enough
โTarvaris Jackson isn't good enough yet to get the Vikings to the Super Bowl.โ - Sean Crowe, NFL Season Preview.
It was propheticโand by prophetic, I mean obvious to anyone not currently the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings.
The Minnesota Vikings need to seriously consider giving up whatever it takes to get Matt Cassel from the New England Patriots.
They need someone, because this team has everything except a quarterback.
Tarvaris Jackson was OK until the Vikings had to come from behind. Once they fell behind by more than a couple of points, the game was over.
Because Tarvaris was awful.
Asante Samuel continued his tremendously productive post-season career as he benefited from a Jackson error, intercepting him and returning it for a touchdown.
Think the Patriots could have used someone like that in their secondary?ย
Itโs as simple as this for Minnesota. If they upgrade the quarterback position in the off-season, theyโre a Super Bowl contender.
If they donโt, theyโre a middling team that will fail in the post-season again.
As for the Eagles, their quarterback situation seems to have resolved itself. Grant it, in his biggest play of the game, all the work was done by Brian Westbrook. But McNabb was pretty good, and he has been the last couple of weeks.
Westbrook makes that offense go. You canโt contain him for an entire game. If you somehow do, youโll win. But I donโt like the odds.
The Eaglesโ defense is firing on all cylinders right now. But if they want to move on to the NFC championship game, theyโll have to beat the defending Super Bowl champions.
And frankly, Iโm not sure I like anyoneโs odds against the Giants this season.
