So Lee Evans is still on the roster? After a season full of disappointment due to injuries and unrealized expectations, Lee Evans finally snagged a big one.
This one handed grab was super sweet. It landed the Ravens inside the Texans 10-yard line. Even though the Ravens failed to convert on a 4th and inches, goal-line situation shortly after, the catch still set the Ravens up to have great field position going into the fourth quarter.
Evans was brought in via preseason trade with the Buffalo Bills to give them the deep threat the offense has long lacked. It hasn't exactly worked out that way. Evans had a total of four receptions all season for 74 yards and no TDs.
Instead, rookie Torrey Smith has taken over the role of home-run threat. Smith's stat line of 50 catches and seven TDs was what the Ravens had planned for Evans, who ideally would have been the perfect compliment to Anquan Boldin.
If Evans can establish himself as a weapon, it will help the Ravens for the rest of this game and going forward, provided they win this tightly contested game.
At this point, it would seem, Evans' confidence may have been shaken with this season's events, which is by far the worst year of his career.
At the time of the Evans' catch, the Ravens led 17-13. It has been a defensive battle as many expected. It is likely another stellar offensive play will be necessary to declare a winner in this one.
