WWE News: Cowboys Stadium Not Expected to Host Wrestlemania 29 or 30

Possible locations for WrestleManias 29 and 30 have been a hot topic of debate among WWE fans in recent weeks. 

We’ve seen a number of reports out there that have indicated several different favorites to host the WWE’s flagship event in 2013 and 2014. From MetLife stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey to the Rogers Centre in Toronto, numerous stadiums have popped up in WrestleMania discussions. 

The more we hear about possible WrestleMania host cities, though, the more confused we get. That being said, it looks like we may actually be able to cross one potential suitor off the list for both WrestleMania 29 and WrestleMania 30.

Dallas Observer asked Dallas Cowboys spokesman Brett Daniels if WWE’s signature event, WrestleMania, will be held at Cowboys Stadium within the next two years. 

He said, “We can’t host WrestleMania the next two years because of NCAA Regional in ’13 and Final Four in ’14. We’ve talked with them and gave it a shot but couldn’t make the schedule work.”

This is the biggest indication yet that one of the favorites to host either of the next two WrestleManias has basically been eliminated from the competition. 

The NCAA men’s basketball tournament is such a huge event—one of the biggest and most exciting in sports—that there is just too much to do in too short a time to make it work. While I’m sure WWE officials would love to host WrestleMania in the premier stadium in the United States, that doesn’t appear to be in the cards for 2013 or 2014. 

It’s a bit of a buzzkill in the short-term because Cowboys Stadium could likely hold 100,000-plus fans and thus smash the record for WrestleMania attendance (and probably some other attendance records as well). However, in the long-term, it seems to be pretty much inevitable that a WrestleMania will be held there at some point. 

In fact, I’d pencil in Wrestlemania 31 in 2015 to be held in Cowboys Stadium, because there don’t appear to be any scheduling conflicts that year and there’s no doubt Vince McMahon wants to head there in the near future. 

Have some patience, WWE. Your time in Cowboys Stadium is coming.
