I had to see it to believe it, but it seems like it's really going to happen...if you really believe what's being said.
Let's take it with a grain of salt until we see action taken, but ESPN.com reports (picture and all) that Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and her father Andy will be participating in the daddy-daughter past-time of boxing promotion.
As a matter of fact, Polizzi is named as the "owner" of Team Snooki Boxing, which consists of the Marlboro native and her father, as well as Brian Burke and Mike Pascale of the Poughkeepsie-based Final Round Promotions.
Rounding out the stable of fighters are the Hyland brothers, 28-year-old Patrick "The Punisher", 30-year-old Eddie "The Pride of Tallaght" and 27-year-old Paul, all of whom are sons of Dublin, Ireland, and all of whom have taken their talents stateside in recent years.
Patrick is an unbeaten featherweight in 24 professional fights, while Eddie is a super featherweight who is running 12 fights deep into an untouched streak since a 2006 loss to Stephen Mullin in Liverpool, and Paul is a super bantamweight on a two-fight win streak after his most recent loss to Willie Casey in the fourth round of a bout last November.
As for Polizzi, she admits that her only real knowledge of the sport of boxing comes only through the Rocky series based on the story of Chuck Wepner, and, as with anytime a celebrity or pop culture star delves into a sport, there are going to be critics that doubt they can delve into a sport successfully.
However, Polizzi and "The Punisher" have already established a relationship in the past, so while nobody's going to toot the Hyland horn or take "TSB" seriously unless one of the three brothers fights on an ESPN "Friday Night Fight" card, a "ShoBox: The New Generation" card, or even a barn-burner on some type of HBO boxing card, the girl that calls the Jersey Shore her second home is taking a step in a commendable direction.
