WWE: The Genius of Chris Jericho Saga Continues

Excuse me for a moment, as I compose myself and try to write this article. It's a bit overwhelming—my triumphant return to Bleacher Report and WWE.

What better way to kick off the return of one of the greatest featured columnists of all time here on Bleacher Report than to coincide it with the return of my good Twitter friend and personal favorite wrestler/entertainer of all time, Chris Jericho?

Last week, when the vignettes ended, the arena went dark and the ground shook, I sat there waiting—waiting for breaking of the walls and quietly chanted, "No gong, no gong, please no gong." When I saw that jacket light up in that classic Michael Jackson stance (he borrowed his entrance from the King of Pop), I high-fived myself, let out a "woooo" and hit the Twitter like every other WWE Universe fan (follow me @BOOMpage).

Jericho ran around the ring in elation, high-fiving fans, cheering, shouting out, "Yeah baby!" And the sheep—I mean crowd—ate it up like the best soup grandma makes on Sunday. They ate and ate, and he hyped it up and hyped it up. He became so caught up in the moment, so into the reaction of the crowd, he couldn't even bring himself to speak to his hungry fans.

This week, the excitement continues for both Jericho and, yes, myself, an admitted "Jericholic," as he once again comes down the ramp, smiling ear to ear and basking in the adoration of all the fans. Listening to the universe chant his name like before, he is so emotional, so caught up in the moment that he just can't bring himself to respond to his screaming fans.

Then, the moment happens again. The sheep who chanted, screamed and fawned over the returning superstar turn, and the faint howl of boos and groans begin to be heard throughout the arena. But, Chris can only try to hold back the "tears."

Why is this happening each week? Why is the Canadian treasure coming to us and then leaving before he can tell us his plan to once again "save us?" Because, quite simply, he is the best there is at what he does. The expression "playing us like a fiddle" is an understatement. Chris Jericho is the Johnny who made the devil bow when it comes to fiddle playing.

Look back at all the other returns, the goodbyes, the crying, the standing atop turnbuckles and just screaming and pointing at themselves and the crowd—the superstars who have soaked up the crowd or been too emotional to go on. We've been there. We've chanted "one more match" or "thank you ______."

It's happened time and time again, and Chris Jericho is showing you all how stupid you look when you buy into all of it. He has become a cartoon character of the returning hero, the ultimate cliche,' and now two weeks in a row, he has done it perfectly.

Will this lead him all the way to the Rumble? Who will be his opponent? The target of this building contempt for the world that exists within the WWE Universe will soon explode. And within the next two weeks, I'm betting we'll find out who will be the one to suffer. Let's stay tuned to Raw and watch. 

Forget this having to "save the WWE" or failed ratings. Enough with these top-five lists or craziest gimmicks of all time.
