Arsenal Transfers: 7 January Targets Fans Would Love to See at the Emirates

1 of 8

With the start of 2012 came the opening of the Winter Transfer Window. Arsenal fans will be hoping to see some additions to the squad during this time.

Injuries have left this current Arsenal squad exhausted and stretched. In its last match, Arsenal had to play midfielder Francis Coquelin in the left-back position.

Gooners are always pondering and dreaming of ways in which their beloved club can improve the squad. The following seven players will all be on the shortlist for Arsenal fans during this transfer window.

Eden Hazard

2 of 8

In Eden Hazard, Arsenal fans have a player that has been linked to the Emirates quite a few times. In fact, in almost all the recent transfer windows there has been a link between the Gunners and Hazard.

Eden Hazard is a fantastic attacking player. He is one of the top wingers in the world, and he is only 20 years old.

Such a young talent is a tantalizing proposition for almost any club. Eden Hazard appears to be a player that was made for the Gunners.

Hazard would slot in perfectly with Arsene Wenger's attacking style of play. The Belgian international is a player that would quickly become a fan favorite in North London.

Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry has a statue outside the Emirates Stadium. If that doesn't tell you how Arsenal fans view the French talisman, then I don't know what will.

Henry is an Arsenal legend, and the club's all time leading goal scorer. He currently plays for the New York Red Bulls in the MLS, however Henry has been tipped to join the Gunners on loan.

Henry is a player that every Arsenal fan would like to see take the pitch. Even if he doesn't start, Thierry Henry coming off the bench at the Emirates would bring about an eruption the likes of which North London has yet to see.

With Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh departing for the African Cup of Nations, Henry could contribute to an understaffed Arsenal attack.

Every Gooner would love to see Thierry Henry rejoin Arsenal during the transfer window.

Mario Gotze

4 of 8

Mario Gotze has been fantastic since emerging at Borussia Dortmund in 2010. The 20-year-old midfielder has established himself as one of the top young talents in the world.

The German can score goals: he runs at defenses with good pace, and appears to be naturally two-footed.

Gotze would be a great young signing for Arsenal. He would be a different type of option for Arsene Wenger to employ.

It would be nice to have the ability to rest Mikel Arteta once in a while by putting the likes of Gotze in.

Arsenal fans love young talent. And in Mario Gotze, that is exactly what they would get, should the German make the move to North London.

Yann M'Vila

5 of 8

Yann M'Vila has been a great player for Rennes in Ligue 1, and the Frenchman would be equally great for Arsenal should he move to North London in January.

M'Vila is not afraid of tackling anybody. Like Patrick Vieira, M'Vila will go in to tackle anybody who dares to take him on.

However his tackling ability does not define him as a footballer. M'Vila can also pick out a pass thanks to his above average vision.

The French International would be a great asset to players like Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who thrive on midfield passes to help them start the attack.

M'Vila would be a great addition to the Arsenal squad, and he arrival would be to the joy of all Gooners.

Leighton Baines

6 of 8

Leighton Baines is a player that has been previously linked with a move to the Emirates. This transfer window there does not seem to be that link, but ironically the Gunners need him more than ever.

Due to an injury crisis the likes of which is difficult to describe, Arsenal currently finds itself with no fit full backs.

Bacary Sagna, Andre Santos, Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson are all out injured.

Bringing Baines in would not only provide cover in the left-back area of defense, but it would also bring in a proven Premier League defender.

Baines would not be a 'cover' purchase: Baines is a player that would start no matter which full-backs are fit.

Gooners would like to see a fit and capable defense. Leighton Baines is a player that personifies those qualities, and he would be a great addition to the Arsenal squad.

Lukas Podolski

7 of 8

Lukas Podolski has scored 14 goals in 16 games this season in the German Bundesliga. The German International has also been heavily linked with a move to Emirates.

The departure of Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh has left Arsenal short in the attack.

Furthermore, Marouane Chamakh has looked absolutely clueless in his performances off the bench this season.

If the Gunners manage to bring in a proven goal-scorer in Lukas Podolski, Arsenal will suddenly be picking up points in matches that it would previously had been dropping them.

Podolski's signature at the Emirates would be a fantastic thing to see in this transfer window.

Clint Dempsey

8 of 8

There are no rumours to support that this will actually happen, but Clint Dempsey is a player that fits the title.

The American is a proven Premier League player, and is Fulham's all-time leading Premier League goal scorer.

Dempsey has shown in his time at Craven Cottage that he can play in the midfield and the front line. Dempsey has a terrific attitude, and he has recently talked about Champions League aspirations.

Well, no clubs seem to be enquiring about obtaining his services, so why shouldn't Arsenal be the first to do so?

Clint Dempsey is quality footballer: he is a player that would improve any team that he goes to.

If Dempsey made the move from West London to North London, Americans would finally have a reason to cheer for Arsenal.
