English Premier League January Transfers: 10 Players Who Would Light Up the EPL

0 of 10

The English Premier League transfer spectacular has started, and these are the players who, should they sign up, will light up the Premier League in 2012.

Some deals are more likely than others, and some teams need these guys more than others.  But one thing is for certain: All of these players will make the Premier League a more exciting place.

Unless they all sign for Manchester City!

10. Romelu Lukaku

1 of 10

Romelu Lukaku is a teenage striker from Belgium.  Already in the Premier League with Chelsea, Lukaku might be a surprise entry.

He won't be lighting the Premier League alight with Chelsea.  He needs some experience before being thrown into the battle for a Champions League spot.

Instead Lukaku will light up the other end of the Premier League.  A loan spell at a struggling side would give Lukaku the chance to shine, lighting up the league and making the relegation battle a lot more interesting.

9. Wesley Sneijder

2 of 10

Wesley Sneijder is a player who has been linked to a Premier League move in the past.

A move to Manchester City for Sneijder would not do anything for the Premier League.  But should Sneijder join cross-city rivals Manchester United, or another top club, the Premier League would get a lot more interesting.

8. Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard has been exciting French fans this season with some great performances for Lille.

A move to the Premier League could be in the cards, and Hazard would make a big impact.

The winger will bring excitement and a desire to attack, similar to that seen in Adam Johnson at Manchester City.  He's an exciting prospect who will light up the Premier League should he sign for a top club.

7. Carlos Tevez

4 of 10

Carlos Tevez is one Premier League star that is desperate for a transfer in January.  A move away from the Premier League seems like the most likely option for Tevez.  But that is one move the neutral fan will not want.

Tevez has a proven record in the Premier League, and is one player that will definitely light up the league in 2012.  The only thing that he needs is a new club.

6. Neymar

Neymar is a player everyone would love to see in the Premier League.

Undoubtedly one of the brightest young talents in the world, Neymar would bring excitement, talent and flair to the Premier League.

5. Edinson Cavani

6 of 10

Edinson Cavani is another striker who would make a big impact in the Premier League.  The powerful and commanding striker is a proven goal scorer in Italy and could come in very handy in the Premier League.

Cavani could easily be compared to Andy Carroll, not just for his long hair, but for his strength and presence up front.  Where he differs from Carroll is his ability to score goals.

The signing of Cavani would certainly be met with a lot of excitement.

4. Javi Martinez

7 of 10

Javi Martinez, currently playing for Athletic Bilbao is a hot prospect.  The captain of Spain's victorious under-21 side at the European Championships last year, the midfielder is a player many will be watching closely.

Playing "the Spanish way" with perfect passing and a cool demeanour on the ball make Martinez into a player that would excite fans in the Premier League.

3. Paulo Henrique Ganso

8 of 10

Paulo Henrique Ganso is the lesser-known team mate of Brazilian superstar Neymar.

The midfielder has already made an impact playing for Santos in recent years and would be an exciting addition to any Premier League side.

Whilst Neymar might be too expensive and difficult to lure into Europe, the signing of Ganso would be more realistic.

2. Moussa Sow

9 of 10

Moussa Sow is fast becoming a big star in world football.  His scoring partnership with Gervinho saw Lille make it into the Champions League.  But now Gervinho has left, Sow, who was the main scorer in the partnership, could also be on his way to the Premier League.

Sow will be a much sought-after player in the Premier League, and his goals will help provide excitement and really light up the league.

1. Mario Gotze

10 of 10

Mario Gotze has been setting the Bundesliga alight with his incredible playmaking skill.  A major part of the championship winning team at Dortmund, Gotze has a very bright future.

Unfortunately for Premier League fans, a huge transfer fee will be needed to temp Dortmund into a sale.  But should one of the big spenders come up with the cash in January, Gotze will be certain to make a big impact in the Premier League.
