Liverpool Transfer Rumours: Moving Dirk Kuyt Is Best for Player and Club
Liverpool hasn't done a whole lot of scoring this year. Their 24 shots to find the back of the net are actually less than relegation battlers Blackburn and only one more than Bolton. Fortunately, their back line has only given up 18 goals, which is the third best mark in the league.
One such player not helping either cause is 31-year-old striker Dirk Kuyt. Once an integral part of the Reds' offensive attack, Kuyt has found himself out of favor following the arrival of all the summer additions and because of his inconsistent play.
In his 17 league appearances this season (11 starts, 6 subs), he has yet to find the back of the net and has assisted on only one goal.

It is safe to say that both he and Andy Carroll have been the most disappointing front line players for the Anfield club this year.
As it stands, with the January transfer window upon us, Kuyt is receiving interest from outside clubs.
According to a report from the Metro:
"Galatasaray are ready to offer regular playing time and significantly boost his £65,000-a-week wages.
That package would be attractive to the 31-year-old, but the sticking point is doing a deal with Liverpool, who would want a fee of around £15 million, for a player who only extended his contract last April.
Galatasaray would be willing to go up to the £10 million mark, and include further payments linked to their success in their Turkish Super Liga, which they current top ahead of Fenerbahce and Besiktas.
"
The catch, as always with Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish, will be to find a suitable replacement. Metro indicates that Kuyt's countryman Eljero Elia is the only winger Dalglish is currently considering. The Dutchman is, as Metro puts it, "struggling to adapt to life in Turin" with Juventus.
Whether Elia be part of the equation or not, Liverpool needs to seriously consider letting their Dutchman go. Kuyt has chance to be an integral part of the Dutch Euro 2012 push, but his lack of regular play is a cause for concern.
The Reds are trying to use Kuyt when they can, but he's not factored in well with the new faces and they'd be best served getting what they can for him now. Galatasaray are more than willing to work with the English outfit and it is likely the best deal they'll see.
Kuyt certainly cannot turn down an option for more money and regular playing time if he truly wants to play for the Dutch in Euro 2012.
At 31, he doesn't have too many competitive international events left.
All involved parties—Liverpool, Dirk Kuyt and Galatasaray—benefit from such a move.
