After years of playing in Kim Kardashian's shadow, it is time for Reggie Bush to take center stage. Well, he will be sharing it with Kelly Ripa though.

Fox Sports Florida reports Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush will co-host "Live! with Kelly" on Jan. 9th. He will be one of five hosts to take on the duty during a sports-themed week.

UPDATE: Monday, January 9th, 4:10 p.m. ET

Reggie Bush featured on Live with Kelly Ripa today as a guest co-host. It was a moment that allowed Ripa to grill Reggie Bush on his personal life. We can assume that Kim Kardashian may get word on what was said. Bush noted when asked about his status: Via The New York Post

Do I have to answer that question? Yeah, I’m single. Sweating over here. Did somebody turn the heat on? It’s getting hot in here!

I don’t want to be single forever. I want to have a wife and kids and be able to raise a little Reggie and raise some kids some day.

Well, there you go, Kim Kardashian. Your former boyfriend wants it all. The ball is in your court now.

One former athlete may actually be in the front as a possible replacement for the long-time host that left the show in Jesse Palmer. The ESPN football analyst has also been featured on a season of The Bachelor.

Even The Sun-Sentinel rumored, "the handsome, well spoken Palmer might be one to watch as “Live” continues its search for a permanent replacement for Regis Philbin."

It's clear that if any athlete, current or former, is going to step in the shoes of Regis Philbin, it would have to be Palmer.

But not all the sports stars taking the stage have their sights set on a life in live television. Reggie Bush is simply trying to have fun and give this entertainment thing a go.

Per the Fox Sports report, Bush stated:

They asked me if I wanted to do it, and I got an opportunity to do it, and I felt like, 'Why not? Maybe, post-career I can get into TV. We'll see. I've always been a fan of the Regis (Philbin) and Kelly show. Obviously, he's retired now. But I've always been a fan. I felt like this was a great opportunity to go out and kind of step outside the box.

Rumors continue to fly that Bush may be on his way to rekindling his relationship with Kim Kardashian. I think most Dolphins fans will argue that he is doing just fine with out her.

Bush has the image and charisma to be a star after he hangs up the cleats for good. All you have to do is hear the boos for Kris Humphries to remember what kind of vitriol follows the Kardashians.

Bush has finally moved on from his days as reality TV sideshow. It's time for him to concentrate on bigger and better opportunities, because he is bigger and better than all of that.
