WWE It Begins: Chris Jericho's Return Will Be WWE's Biggest Botch

Jun 7, 2018

The WWE is the top wrestling company in the entire world, but if Chris Jericho is the man behind the “It Begins” vignettes and returning on Monday, the company doesn’t care anymore.

If Y2J breaks the walls down, the WWE will have officially jumped the shark.

Believe me, I understand how hard it is to keep secrets in the new digital media age, but they could have done so much more to have Jericho not seem like the person returning. Not only did the company “accidentally” include him in the promo before SmackDown on Friday night, Jericho has hurt the surprise with his non-stop tweeting.

It also didn’t help that Jericho flew into Knoxville, Tennessee through commercial airlines and was seen by plenty of fans and paparazzi. Especially because Jericho has been telling fans that he would be in Canada on Monday. LIES!

There is no right way to handle the situation if you are the WWE, but this needs to be a lesson on how not to handle this moving forward. With possible returns of Brock Lesnar, Undertaker and many other older stars looking to take a bump one last time, this will be a good test run of how the WWE universe will react to this series of vignettes.

Don’t get me wrong, folks, I’m a huge fan of Chris Jericho and the whole CM Punk vs. Jericho feud is as great as I could ever imagine. The problem is how the WWE got to this point.

With there being no fun left to be had, I hope that Vince McMahon gets so jaded by the lack of a surprise that he makes Brodus Clay be the returning star and swerves all the fans. At this point, it doesn’t matter who returns, just that the WWE cares enough to not let it be Chris Jericho.

The talk of Brock Lesnar is exciting and a very real possibility in the near future, but this is just too close to a loss for this to make any sense financially.

So who would I have the vignettes for? Undertaker of course!

Bring Jericho to the facilities to throw the WWE universe off the trail, while he is there sign him and do all the necessary paperwork and roll him out on a pay-per-view. Then have Undertake come out at the conclusion of the show and drag this out for another month before you actually need him in action.

At this point, I rather see Stephanie and Shane McMahon be the “It Begins” mystery than Jericho because of just how poorly WWE pulled this off.
