Arsenal Transfer News: Breaking Down the Likeliest Clubs to Land Andrey Arshavin
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger must sell Andrey Arshavin in the January transfer window to generate funds to improve the club since the Russian winger has failed to earn a regular role with the club this season.
According to the Metro, a number of clubs have had interest in Arshavin, including the club Arsenal bought him from in 2009, Zenit St. Petersburg, and maybe even the Gunners' London rivals, Chelsea.
Arshavin's goal scoring and playmaking form has dipped this season, and he has not impressed Wenger enough to earn many starts this season.

It's clear that parting ways is best for Arshavin and the club. Let's break down the likeliest clubs to land Arshavin in next month's transfer window.
1. Zenit St. Petersburg
Arshavin came to Arsenal in the January transfer window during 2009 from Zenit St. Petersburg for a large £15 million fee, and he has failed to live up to that price this season.
Arshavin has to play regularly to be in good enough form in order to impress the Russian national team coaches who are deciding on the country's roster for the Euro 2012 championships next summer.
Being in Russia and having more playing time would help Arshavin earn a place on his nation's Euro 2012 roster.
2. Chelsea
Arsenal's London rivals, Chelsea, need more attacking talent with the inconsistent form of Didier Drogba and the terrible season Fernando Torres is having.
Arshavin would inject some pace and playmaking to the Blues attack, and he would be determined to impress manager Andre Villas-Boas in order to keep a regular place in the team.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is Russian and may want to bring in a fellow countryman in Arshavin to help his club for the second half of the season.
3. Tottenham
It's no secret that Tottenham are a legitimate Premier League title contender this season, and adding a player like Arshavin could help them score more goals in the second half of the campaign.
However, according to the Metro, there could be some reasons Spurs manager Harry Redknapp would not make a move for the Russian star:
"Spurs have been named in some quarters but Harry Redknapp is said to be reluctant to bring in a player he may struggle to offer a regular first-team place."
With the African Cup of Nations set to begin in January, Arsenal will likely have forwards Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh departing the Emirates to participate in the competition, thus opening the need for more attacking players.
If Arshavin leaves in January, Wenger will need to bring in reinforcements to help the club in important Premier League fixtures such as the match with Manchester United at the Emirates on Jan. 22.
