Jeoffrey Pagan Announcement: What It Means to Alabama Football

Jeoffrey Pagan has signed his National Letter of Intent and has decided to play football at the University of Alabama.

He previously was committed to Clemson, but has since de-commited. He was also strongly considering the Georgia Bulldogs.

Pagan is a 4-star recruit and ranked as the 16th-best DE, according to Scout.com. He is ranked 52nd on ESPNU 150, a ranking of the best prospects of the 2011 class.

Alabama has had a top-10 recruiting class coming into the day, and with Pagan's announcement, their ranking should improve.

Coming into the day, experts thought that Pagan would join Ray Drew at the University of Georgia, but now they will be playing against each other in the SEC.

Pagan will be able to come in from day one and make an impact. He probably won't start, but the defensive line depth is key and Pagan will be able to add depth.

One of the most important aspects of having a good defense is not necessarily talent, but depth. You are only as good as your second string. Pagan is a top-level talent and he will add depth to the Crimson Tide defense, as well as talent.

Alabama is also in the running for top-ranked RB Isaiah Crowell, who is also considering Georgia. Top-ranked OT Cyrus Kouandjio is deciding between a couple schools, and Auburn and Alabama top that list.

Crowell will announce his decision at 1:30 EST and Kouandjio will announce his decision at 12:00 EST.
