National Signing Day 2011: Follow The Latest Signings, News, Reactions
National Signing Day 2011 is off and running and we'll be here all day to bring you all the latest news, signings and reactions as we count down to the end of the 2011 college football recruiting season.
The day has already kicked off with a few major signings as well as the announcement that Jadeveon Clowney, the nation's top overall recruit, will wait until February 14 to make his college decision.
But with so many uncommitted prospects and wavering commitments, the absence of a Clowney announcement shouldn't put a damper on the nonstop action.
Look out for the recruiting landscape to experience some major shifts in the next 12 hours and some serious shuffling at the top of the recruiting rankings.
Who will have the top class this year? Where will the top recruits sign? What shockers and surprises are we bound to hear before this day is done?
You've got questions, we've got answers.
Be sure to check out where all the top 100 recruits are headed.
The nation's top overall prospect, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was expected to announce his college decision this morning, but declined to do so and will instead wait until his birthday on February 14 to make his college choice.
While most experts have called this a two-horse race between Alabama and South Carolina, Clowney told ESPNU during an interview this afternoon that he was also considering Clemson and at this time really didn't know what he was going to do and needed more time to settle things.
After the way Clemson racked up recruits, including 5-star linebackers Stephone Anthony and Tony Steward, it doesn't look like a stretch for Clowney to head to the "other" in-state school.
We still think this is South Carolina's race to lose, but with another two weeks until this is settled there's plenty of time for Alabama and Clemson to convince Clowney he belongs with them.
The third wave of signings included some of the biggest names on the market. 5-star linebacker Curtis Grant, 5-star running back Isaiah Crowell, 5-star defensive end Jermauria Rasco and 4-star defensive tackle Gabe Wright all signed their letters of intent this afternoon.
Grant chose Ohio State over Florida, Crowell decided to stay in-state at Georgia, Rasco made it official at LSU and Wright joined the ever-growing class at Auburn.
While none of the announcements came as surprises compared to the earlier news from the day, the magnitude of these signings can't be understated.
Grant and Crowell are arguably the best players at their positions in the country, Rasco is a top five defensive end and Wright is a top 10 defensive tackle.
All of them have the potential to be huge instant impact players next season.
They're also some of the last big names to come off the market, with only 4-star safety Marquise Lee and 5-star cornerback De'Anthony Thomas left to make TV announcements today.
Of course, with the nation's top overall recruit, Jadeveon Clowney delaying his decision to Feb. 14, we're a long way from wrapping up the 2011 recruiting season.
Five-star offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio made one of the most surprising announcements of the day when he committed to Auburn over Alabama this morning, but while the Tigers were thrilled to see one of the top prospects in the country head their way instead of the other side of the in-state rivalry, this one isn't quite settled yet.
Several sources are reporting whispers that Kouandjio has yet to sign his letter of intent with Auburn, though at this time there's no further information available.
While we can only speculate as to the reasoning behind this, generally in this case it's because a prospect is wavering and second thoughts have entered the equation.
If you're Nick Saban and the Alabama coaching staff, then you're on the phone with Kouandjio asap.
So is this Iron Bowl recruiting war settled? Or has it just begun?

So where is the top talent from every state in the country headed? More and more, these recruits are heading further and further away from home as the recruiting arms of college football's major programs stretch longer and longer.
So while in previous years it was expected that the top talent stay at home, nowadays the top talent travels everywhere.
When examining where the top prospect from every state is headed, one thing that stands out immediately is which teams take care of business in their own backyards and which teams can rake in the talent everywhere.
Check out where the No. 1 prospects from every state are headed and don't miss out on Bleacher Report's Top 100 Recruit Tracker.
The late morning and early afternoon of National Signing Day 2011 has seen some of the biggest prospects in the country sign their letters of intent.
Of course arguably the biggest signing of the day was by that of 5-star offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio, the No. 2 recruit in the country who picked Auburn over Alabama and USC.
Kouandjio was considered by many to be lock for Alabama considering his brother Arie is with the Crimson Tide, but things just didn't go that way.
Add in Stephone Anthony to Clemson, Brent Calloway back to Alabama, Delvon Simmons to North Carolina and Nickolas Brassell off to Ole Miss and you have a lot of talent on the move.
Stay tuned throughout the day for all the latest news and reactions as we bring you live coverage of signing day until most of the country is off to bed.

National Signing Day 2011 got off to a quick start with a ton of major signings and some big-time shockers as well.
To get you caught up with all the latest from the early action you can check out our early winners and losers list, but while the day has been filled with surprises it shouldn't come as a surprise that Auburn continues to roll.
Watching Clemson rack up the signings and climb the rankings, however, is.
Considering the Tigers already have one of the top offensive classes in the country, a solid morning of defensive pickups should have Clemson poised for a big year in 2011.
Those are just a couple of our winners, though—check out the full article for all the rest.

Five-star defensive tackle Tim Jernigan signed with Florida State over LSU live on ESPNU's broadcast of National Signing Day.
At 6'2", 275 lbs, Jernigan is an athletic big man who moves extremely well for his size and can get into the backfield in a hurry.
He has all the tools to become an elite college defensive lineman. He's strong, stays low to the ground, drives with his legs, and has a relentless motor.
With Jernigan's announcement it's a case of the rich getting richer. Florida State by many accounts is now ahead of Texas for the No. 1 recruiting class in the country and still has a stake in plenty of big-name talent to move even further ahead of the pack.
While the Seminoles missed out on 5-star linebacker Tony Steward this morning, Florida State still have the slimmest of chances to sign Jadeveon Clowney, and don't be surprised if a couple others follow suit as well.
Five-star cornerback De'Anthony Thomas, one of the top overall prospects in the country and a legitimate blue-chip talent on both sides of the field, might drop a bomb on USC tonight.
Thomas, a Crenshaw native, committed to the Trojans last May and had consistently remained firm in his decision.
That was until his just completed visit to Oregon over the weekend.
After the trip, several reports surfaced that Thomas was wavering on his commitment and was seriously considering making a switch to Oregon when he makes his announcement on National Signing Day.
The top overall prospect from the state of California and the headliner of USC's top-10 recruiting class, Thomas' loss would be a huge blow for the Trojans.
Were Oregon to steal this one, it would go down as one of the biggest shockers on signing day.
Thomas won't be announcing his decision until 8:00 p.m. E.T. but right now it looks like Oregon might just pull it off.
Reports are coming out that USC is in scramble mode to try and convince Thomas to stay, but it doesn't look good right now.

Jalen Grimble, the 5-star defensive end out of Nevada and a longtime commitment to USC, added his name to the surprise announcement list when he signed with Miami today.
He's got the size, strength and athleticism to be a defensive tackle in a 4-3 or a defensive end in 3-4, but it remains to be seen how the coaches at Miami plan to use him.
There aren't many big men better in pursuit, especially on the backside, and even fewer with the kind of motor he possesses.
The loss is a big one for USC, which has struggled to get ahold of quality defensive lineman this year, beginning with Sheldon Richardson and ending with Viliami Moala.
For Miami, the Hurricanes now have two of the top defensive ends in the country with Grimble and 5-star recruit Anthony Chickillo.
Al Golden wasn't given much to work with when he took over as head coach for the Canes, but is off to a great start today with his first major signing.

No. 1 overall recruit Jadeveon Clowney was expected to announce his college decision at 10 a.m. this morning, but decided to delay until his birthday on February 14, which also happens to be Valentine's Day.
So the question now becomes, who's going to get their heart broken on Valentine's Day?
South Carolina and Alabama have been vying for his services for months and each school offers a solid argument for the coveted prospect that has the chance to be a truly special player at the next level.
Some scouts are saying he's the best prospect to come out of high school in a decade, and if you spend a few minutes watching film it won't take you long to see why.
At 6'5", 225 lbs, Clowney is an athletic freak and a playmaker in every sense of the word. He gets into the backfield in a hurry, has great natural pass-rushing instincts, and can chase down ball-carriers with his tremendous speed.
No matter where the ball goes, or where Clowney lines up, he can make something happen. There's game film of him chasing down wide receivers 20 yards down the field.
Unfortunately we'll have to wait another couple of weeks to see how this one turns out.
Be sure to check out where all the top 100 recruits are headed.
National Signing Day 2011 is barely underway and already we're getting exactly the type of announcements we expected.
Surprising ones.
In a year where many experts and observers have noted that they've never seen so many wavering and uncommitted prospects at this time of the year, it should come as no surprise that things simply aren't going to go down how we expect.
Tony Steward and Lamar Dawson are prime examples.
Steward was long considered a Florida State lean; Dawson was down to Kentucky and Tennessee.
Steward announced for Clemson, and Dawson picked USC out of nowhere.
So while it would have been hard to predict those decisions a day ago, this is the type of year it's been.
With top-rated prospects like Cyrus Koaundjio considering schools like New Mexico, we may be in for even more shockers as the day plays out.
Be sure to check out where all the top 100 recruits are headed.
Five-star linebacker Tony Steward, one of the top overall prospects in the nation, just committed to Clemson live during ESPNU's National Signing Day broadcast.
At 6'2" and 225 lbs, Steward is one of the most physically imposing prospects in the country, though his stock has dropped a bit as of late.
The kid is built like a body builder, with hardly an ounce of fat. He is incredibly strong and is one of the most athletic prospects in the country at any position, let alone linebacker.
He was considered a Florida State lean for months, but Clemson was never far behind, hosting Steward for a couple vey successful visits.
Be sure to check out where all the top 100 recruits are headed.
With one of the top offensive recruiting classes in the country and now a pair of star linebackers in Steward and Lateek Townsend, Clemson is poised to finish the day with a top-10 recruiting class packed with talent that can make an instant impact on both sides of the ball.
Jeoffrey Pagan, one of the nation's top defensive ends, signed with Alabama today, ending a long and wavering saga that saw him committed to Florida and Clemson and leaning toward Georgia less than 24 hours ago.
One of the toughest prospects to pin down from the 2011 class, Alabama got the last laugh and should reap some serious rewards.
Pagan didn't even start playing the position until his junior year and immediately he looked like a natural out there.
He's strong and athletic and gets into the backfield in a hurry. He's still very raw and needs to be polished, which means a redshirt year might be in his best interest, but the potential is there.
Pagan has the size to be a force as a defensive end in Alabama's 3-4 and could potentially slide over to outside linebacker depending on how Nick Saban decides to use him.
Be sure to check out where all the top 100 recruits are headed.
Lamar Dawson, one of the nation's top linebackers, made one of the first surprise announcements today when he picked USC over Kentucky and Tennessee.
For the past week all the rumblings had this as a two-horse race between the Wildcats and the Vols, but Lane Kiffin and Co. came out of nowhere to swoop in for the kill on this one.
Dawson has ideal size for a middle linebacker, but it's his work ethic, aggressiveness, discipline and speed that really make him an eye-popping talent.
He's got the linebacker mentality that you love to see in a prospect. He'll bulldoze his way through the offense to get to the ball-carrier, won't give up position or over-pursue and, best of all, will lay his body on the line and allow a teammate to make the play.
For the Trojans, Dawson's addition is another huge gain for a school with one of the top recruiting classes in the country. Now just imagine what they could do if there weren't sanctions looming over their heads.
