College Football Predictions Week 10: Who's Primed to Move Up in the BCS Ranking

Randy ChambersOct 31, 2011

Week 9 of the college football season has just ended, but we're already looking forward to what Week 10 has to offer. Last week there were once again a few upsets that turned the rankings upside down, and a few teams proved they are not contenders.

With the new BCS Rankings just released last night, there were several changes, and with a few marquee matchups, it looks like it will be no different this week.

Here are a few teams that look to make a big move up in the rankings after Week 10.

Michigan Wolverines

1 of 5

The Michigan Wolverines are an impressive 7-1 this season, but face a stiff test against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Don't let the 5-3 record fool you; this team gets after it on both sides of the ball, and has won the last two games against the Wolverines.

The Hawkeyes may be having somewhat of a down year, but they always play teams tough, and they're undefeated at home this season.

This will be a difficult test for Denard Robinson and company, and should move them up in the rankings a bit if they pass.

Every Team Behind the Texas Longhorns

2 of 5

The Texas Longhorns play a tough Texas Tech team this weekend, and could very possibly lose that game. I know the Red Raiders were destroyed by Iowa State last week, but I believe that's because they spent so much energy on the Oklahoma victory. They overlooked the Cyclones.

Texas Tech not only beat the Sooners, but also played very competitively against Texas A&M and Kansas State, losing by a combined score of 12 points.

The Red Raiders have more than enough offense to keep the pressure on the Longhorns and pull off the minor upset.

If it happens, teams like Georgia Tech, Auburn, West Virginia and Southern Miss should move up.

Boise State Broncos

3 of 5

Boise State should easily win this week when they play 2-5 UNLV, who is terrible on both sides of the ball. But it isn't about who the Broncos beat that will have them moving up, it's who the teams above them play.

We already know that either LSU or Alabama will slip from the rankings, and Boise should jump one of them. Oklahoma State also plays a solid Kansas State team that has only lost one game to the Sooners.

The Broncos have fallen to No. 5 in the rankings, but with a little help could climb right back up into that National Championship conversation.

Arkansas-South Carolina

4 of 5

This is a game of two talented SEC teams that have had their fare share of struggles this season.

This is a matchup between two top 10 teams in the country, and will benefit the winner tremendously. South Carolina has to win to keep up with Georgia in the SEC East division, and Arkansas has to win to remain in the hunt in the West.

Whichever team ends up winning this game should move up a couple of spots in the rankings, and will remain in the top 10.

The loser will tumble.

Alabama-LSU

5 of 5

The winner of this game may not move up very much because they are already the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country. But it will put the winner in the driver's seat for not only the SEC Championship but the BCS National Championship as well.

This is by far the biggest game of the year, and whoever ends up winning it will be in good shape for the rest of the season.
