Armed Forces Bowl 2017: SDSU vs. Army, TV Schedule, Time and Odds
Fresh off its second straight victory over Navy, Army hopes to conclude a sensational season with an Armed Forces Bowl victory over a tough and accomplished San Diego State team.
The Black Knights (9-3) and the Aztecs (10-2) meet Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas, at 3:30 p.m. in a game that will be televised by ESPN. San Diego State is a 6.5-point favorite and the total is 46 points, according to OddsShark.
There are no secrets about the way Army plays the game. The Black Knights will unleash a powerful running game that averaged 368.1 yards per game, ranking first in the nation in that category.

QB Shades UNC, Belichick
It starts with quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw, who has gained 1,566 yards and is averaging 7.5 yards per carry. Bradshaw has 12 rushing touchdowns, and so does Darnell Woolfolk, who has gained 725 yards and is averaging 5.3 yards per rushing attempt.
Kell Walker and Andy Davidson are also key contributors to the ground game, rushing for 1,138 yards and 10 scores.
The passing game is all but non-existent, although the Midshipmen of Navy won't necessarily agree. Bradshaw completed 13 of 40 passes this season for 279 yards, and that amounts to a shocking 32.5 completion percentage with one touchdown and two interceptions.
One of those completions came during a key drive against Navy, and that helped the Black Knights secure a 14-13 victory over its traditional rival.
San Diego State features one of the best running backs in the nation. Rashaad Penny has had a sensational season, rushing 275 times for 2,027 yards with 19 touchdowns. Penny is quite a breakaway threat, as one of his touchdowns was a 95-yard burst.
Juwan Washington added 715 rushing yards with seven touchdowns.
The Aztecs have a bit more balance than Army, as quarterback Christian Chapman completed 140 of 233 passes for 1,848 yards with 13 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
Chapman's most reliable receiver is senior wideout Mikah Holder, who has caught 43 passes for 602 yards with two touchdowns.
San Diego State head coach Rocky Long has full respect for the Black Knights since his father had a 30-year career in the Army.
"It’s a different feel for me personally, and I try to make it a different feel for my players," Long said, per the San Diego Union-Tribune. "I think it’s a learning experience and because Air Force is in our league I think our guys know exactly what the guys we are playing against are all about."
Army can regularly rev up its ground game against nearly every opponent, but the Black Knights will have to be at their best against the Aztecs. San Diego allowed New Mexico just 82 rushing yards in the regular-season finale and 34 rushing yards in its previous game against Nevada.
Army is averaging 31.2 points per game, while San Diego State allows just 18.4 points per game.
