DETROIT — Western Michigan 29, Ohio 23 (Final)

The No. 17 Western Michigan Broncos survived a fight from the Ohio Bobcats to win the 2016 MAC championship 29-23 Friday night at Ford Field.

Robert Spillane's interception with 51 seconds remaining sealed the victory for Western Michigan, which improved to 13-0 and officially submitted its resume for a trip to the Cotton Bowl.

Broncos receiver Corey Davis grabbed eight passes for 154 yards and one touchdown, and kicker Butch Hampton hit five field goals—a MAC title game record, according to ESPN's Dan Murphy.
