SEC Championship Game 2015: Analysis, Predictions for Florida vs. Alabama

Joe PantornoNov 29, 2015

With Alabama's win on Saturday against Auburn in the Iron Bowl, the SEC Championship Game has been set as the Crimson Tide will meet the Florida Gators in Atlanta on Dec. 5.

The Gators clinched their berth to the championship after a 9-7 win over Vanderbilt on Nov. 7.

Here is how both teams will stack up.

Florida won't be heading to Atlanta on the highest of notes, having lost its final game of the regular season on Saturday to in-state rival Florida State 27-2. Its offense is sputtering, having been held to 20 points or fewer in three of its last four games.

Quarterback Treon Harris has been inconsistent and the Gators offense is ranked 102nd in the nation. In the past six games, Harris has thrown four interceptions and hasn't completed more than 57 percent of his passes in each game.

The SEC's Derek Tyson was a bit harsher when it came to describing Harris:

They'll be facing an Alabama defense that is ranked third in the nation, allowing an average of 265 yards per game.

Around the SEC doesn't have high hopes for Florida:

But Florida's defense is no pushover either. Like Alabama, the Gators are allowing an average of 14.5 points per game, third in the nation.

Alabama, though, has an offensive force in running back Derrick Henry. In the Iron Bowl, Henry outgained all of Auburn with 271 rushing yards.

One of the front-runners for the Heisman Trophy, Henry has had quite an impact on Alabama, as head coach Nick Saban told Ivan Maisel of ESPN.com:

"

Our best workhorse is a running back. ... I'm not a run-and-play-defense guy. I'm a score-however-you-can-score-and-play-defense guy. ... What Derrick has done for this team, because this team needs him to do what he does, I would say, he's made as significant an impact on his team as any players we've ever had.

"

At this point, it might not matter if the 1985 Chicago Bears line up opposite of Henry. He's on a run where he looks unstoppable at the moment and that's what Alabama will need.

If Henry rushes more than 150 yards and scores a touchdown, Alabama is going to win this game comfortably.

Prediction: Alabama defeats Florida 28-14
