The Arizona State defense excelled at creating turnovers and the poor play of Matt Scott of the Wildcats is why the Sun Devils won in the end.

Down by two touchdowns, the Wildcats are trying to get the ball down field as quick as possible. Two quick and easy first downs on a pass to Austin Hill and a run by Matt Scott. Then on the next play Austin Hill got another first down that got another 15 added to it for a helmet-to-helmet.
Then, Matt Scott hit David Richards for the touchdown strike just 57 seconds into the drive.

On 1st-and-goal from the Wildcat 2, D.J. Foster got driven back to the line of scrimmage for no gain. On 2nd-and-goal from the 2, Cameron Marshall brought it right to the goalline but still couldn't punch it in. For 3rd-and-goal from the goalline, Michael Eubank scored a touchdown to make it a two score game.

Daniel Jenkins gets a pair of runs for four yards to set up a 3rd-and-6 from the Sun Devil 44. On 3rd-and-6, Matt Scott almost threw his third interception of the game, but it was dropped. Then on 4th-and-6, Robert Nelson picked the ball off and brought it back to the Wildcat 1-yard line.

Matt Scott hit Johnny Jackson for an excellent quick strike for 16. Then a short run by Daniel Jenkins and incomplete pass to Jackson set up the Wildcat 3rd-and-8 from their own 43 yard line, but on that crucial third down, they hit Austin Hill for a first down.
On 1st-and-goal from the Wildcat 8, Cameron Marshall takes the ball into the endzone untouched.

The Arizona Wildcats go backwards on their first two plays of the drive and then a five yard procedural penalty set up a 3rd-and-20. The 3rd-and-20 was easily defended and now the Sun Devils get the ball back after a blocked punt at the Wildcat 7-yard line.
Marion Grice and Taylor Kelly took their three runs and brought it to the Arizona 16. Then right after that, it only took Grice a trio of runs to bring it into the end zone.

Daniel Jenkins has "Ka'Deem Carey" syndrome right now gaining a first down on his three carries and not letting the defense deny him on third down. Then Matt Scott fumbled the ball away after the Sun Devils stripped it away.
Ka'Deem Carey would not be denied. He just got the first down run easily. Then on the very next run, he brought it down to the Sun Devil 29-yard line.

A run down to the 22-yard line followed by a bad pass underneath that was knocked away set up a Sun Devil 3rd-and-5 from the Wildcats 22-yard line. The third down pass was missed by Rashad Ross and set up a field goal attempt for the Sun Devils.
On the 39-yard field goal attempt, Jon Mora hit it right through the uprights.

After a short run and an incompletion by Matt Scott, he handed off the ball for a short loss on the 3rd-and-8 play to close the quarter out.

A pair of runs by Marion Grice and D.J. Foster gained a first. Then another pair of Foster runs set up a 3rd-and-3 from their own 43 yard line for the Sun Devils. On 3rd-and-3, the Arizona defense almost intercepted the screen but they knocked it down to force the three-and-out.
Arizona's defense is still bad, but they have stepped up tonight in the rivalry game.
