Texas A&M to SEC: What This Means for Texas, Longhorn Network

Justin WeltonJun 6, 2018

Texas A&M will be heading to the SEC to play from now to play their sports. The move is just one of many in the college sports landscape.

But what does this move mean for the Texas Longhorn Network? Not a whole lot now, but a possible end to the network in the future.

Is it fair? NBC shows Notre Dame games and they are for the world to see, is that fair? It seems like an up in the air type of question.

No, both aren’t fair to other schools in terms of recruiting. I have less of a problem with the Fighting Irish being on NBC because they just play their games and nothing else, but still, it seems unfair to the other schools who don’t have that.

The Longhorn Network creates a disadvantage to other schools because kids will buy into the fact that they have their own network. Kids will buy into anything like jersey styles and complexes.

Kids will buy into anything these days, but especially exposure because they want to make it to the NFL. There isn’t a better way to make it big than to have more people seeing what you are actually doing on the field.

The whole network should be obliterated, and soon. But, who knows in college football. They do so many things that don’t make sense. No playoff system? That is a joke.

Every team should be on the same playing field. If that means stripping Notre Dame from NBC then I am all for it. If you are a team that consistently does well like Alabama, LSU, Oregon then you will get the most exposure in prime time games.

This way teams will have to earn their exposure. If they play well and win games, they will get more exposure on ESPN and their networks.

Besides, teams still make it on ESPN, even if you are Florida Atlantic.

College athletics should be about equal opportunity and fairness all across the board. Every team should have the opportunity to recruit players to their program the same way.

If college football was fair, the Texas Longhorn Network would be long gone. But, we all know that college sports are unfair and such is life. Ā
