College Football Live Scores Week 1: Real Time Updates for Top 25 Teams

Eric BowmanJun 4, 2018

College football has finally arrived!

Week 1 thankfully has crucial Top 25 match ups with National Championship implications instead of just cupcake game after cupcake game.

The season kicked off on Thursday, September 1st with the beat down of the UNLV Runnin' Rebels at the hands of the No. 11 Wisconsin Badgers. Russell Wilson got off to a hot start in his Heisman campaign.

All eyes will now be on the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners and whether or not they truly deserve that ranking.

Teams like Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Florida may not be in the Top 10, but they're hoping to start the season off with a strong showing to prove they'll be contenders in 2011.

But the biggest games of the weekend are No. 5 Boise State Broncos against the No. 19 Georgia Bulldogs in the Georgia Dome and No. 3 Oregon Ducks against the No. 4 LSU Tigers.

These two games will start the season off right, and could be a huge factor as to who ultimately plays for the BCS title at the end of the season.

Follow along as we give you a preview to the Week 1 games for college football's top 25, as well as updated scores once the games begin.

Tulsa vs. No. 1 Oklahoma

1 of 23

The Oklahoma Sooners began what they hope will be a championship season against an overmatched Tulsa team.

FINAL SCORE

Oklahoma 47, Tulsa 14

GAME RECAP

Oklahoma scored early and often. Tulsa scored every other quarter. That led to a blowout. Oklahoma took a 30-7 lead into halftime and cruised to the easy 47-14 victory.

Landry Jones was phenomenal in this game. He finished 45-37 with 375 yards and one touchdown. Ryan Broyles caught 14 of those passes for 158 yards and a touchdown.

Oklahoma was expected to rout in this one, and they delivered.

GAME MVP

Landry Jones

WHERE THE SOONERS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

The Sooners will land right where they started, at No. 1.

Kent State vs. No. 2 Alabama

2 of 23

The Alabama Crimson Tide are favored to reach the National Championship game this season, and the nation's first glimpse of what their new team will look like will come against the Kent State Golden Flashes.

FINAL SCORE: Alabama 48, Kent State 7.

GAME MVP

The Crimson Tide's defense dominated from the opening kickoff, holding Kent State to a measly 90 yards (-9 yards rushing). Offensively, things haven't gone nearly as well for Bama, at least through the air. A.J. McCarron and Philip Sims have combined to complete 21 of 37 passes for 299 yards, but they have thrown a total of four interceptions. The ground game has been effective, though, as the Tide have rolled their way to 183 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

GAME MVP

This game belonged to Bama's defense, which more than held its own while allowing the offense to work out some kinks against an overmatched opponent.

WHERE THE CRIMSON TIDE WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

No lower than second. If Oklahoma somehow loses to Tulsa, the Tide will take over the top spot in the rankings.

No. 3 Oregon vs. No. 4 LSU

3 of 23

The biggest game of the weekend had two preseason Top 5 teams battling each other on a neutral site at Cowboys Stadium.

FINAL SCORE

LSU 40, Oregon 27

GAME RECAP

This was an exciting, although at times sloppy game. LSU received decent enough QB play from fill-in Jarrett Lee, and were able to withstand Oregon's quick strike attack to walk away with a 13-point victory.

Oregon was their own worst enemy in this one. They lost the turnover battle 4-1. That makes it tough to compete against any team. Let alone a team as talented as LSU.

Oregon also struggle without standout cornerback-punt returner Cliff Harris. His punt return fill-in had a costly fumble. LSU recovered, and marched down the field on a drive that concluded when Jarrett Lee completed a pass over Harris' replacement at corner.

GAME MVP

LSU RB, Michael Ward - 14 carries for 96 yards and two touchdowns

WHERE THE TIGERS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

With the No's. 1 and 2 teams winning bib, the Tigers will only jump Oregon and be ranked No. 3.

No. 5 Boise State vs. No. 19 Georgia

4 of 23

The Boise State Broncos headed to the toughest conference in America to start their season as took on the Georgia Bulldogs of the SEC.

Boise State needs the big matchups when they have the freedom to schedule them and that is what they got in Week One.

FINAL SCORE

Boise State 35, Georgia 21

GAME RECAP

Kellen Moore chucked three touchdowns as Boise State dominated the second and third quarters to roll past Georgia.

Boise State was efficient and polished in this match. They took advantage of their scoring opportunities and they did not give away any points. They had just one turnover and four penalties. This team looked to be in midseason form.

GAME MVP

Boise State QB, Kellen Moore - 28-34 264 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

WHERE THE BRONCOS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

Boise State will jump Oregon and find themselves at No. 4.

Louisiana-Monroe vs. No. 6 Florida State

5 of 23

The Florida State Seminoles hosted the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks for a tuneup for bigger action. This is Jimbo Fisher's second season, and big things are expected from the No. 6 FSU team.

FINAL SCORE

Florida State 34, Louisiana-Monroe 0

GAME RECAP

Christian Ponder left some big shoes to fill for the QB of Florida State. EJ Manuel looks ready to fill them. Manuel was solid in this game going 22-34 with 252 yards. He also threw for two TDs, but was picked once.

And that was way more offense than Florida State needed in this one. Their defense dominated. LA-Monroe gained just 191 yards of offense.

GAME MVP

Florida State QB, EJ Manuel - 22-34, 252 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT

WHERE THE SEMINOLES WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

The 'Noles will find themselves at No. 5.

San Jose State vs. No. 7 Stanford

6 of 23

It must have been nice for David Shaw to see Andrew Luck lining up under center as he head coached his first game for Stanford.

It was also probably fairly comforting to see San Jose State lined up on the other side.

FINAL SCORE

Stanford 57, San Jose State 3

GAME RECAP

Stanford put up double digit points in every quarter, as they steamrolled their overmatched opening opponent. Andrew Luck plodded through a three touchdown day, before taking to the bench early. Luck threw for two and ran for one, and showed he is ready to roll for the 2011 season.

San Jose State showed up, and I'm not sure what else they contributed in this one.

GAME MVP

Stanford QB, Andrew Luck - 17-26, 171 yards 3 TDs (2 passing, 1 rushing)

WHERE THE BADGERS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

No. 6. Look for the Cardinals to jump over conference rival Oregon.

Southern Methodist vs. No. 8 Texas A&M

7 of 23

The Texas A&M Aggies have a very good chance at the Big 12 title this year, and their 2011 season begins by hosting the Southern Methodist Mustangs.

The Aggies believe that this will be their final year in the Big 12, and they'd like nothing better than to win the conference before they leave.

When: Sunday, September 4, 7:30 PM ET

Watch: FSN

Preview

The Aggies have found their quarterback in Ryan Tannehill, and he'll get a chance to continue his success against the Mustangs. It's a little funny that the Aggies open up their season with news that they want to leave the Big 12, and their first opponent is a team that would love to be in the Big 12.

Mustangs' quarterback Kyle Padron is very underrated, but no matter how hard he tries he won't be able to match the Aggies. Southern Methodist's defense will have a very difficult time stopping the Cyrus Gray rushing attack, and there's no way they're slowing down wide receiver Jeff Fuller.

Texas A&M wins 38-20

Louisiana-Lafayette vs. No. 9 Oklahoma State

8 of 23

The Oklahoma State Cowboys hosted the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns. This never really figured to be, and proved not to be, a fair fight.

It was an entertaining game tough.

FINAL SCORE

Oklahoma State 61, Louisiana-Lafayette 34

GAME RECAP

Oklahoma rolled to 458 yards and 61 points in their opener as their offense looks to be as potent as ever. They put this game away early, and had a 34-14 lead at halftime.

Brandon Weedon had a spectacular day through the air throwing for almost 400 yards and three touchdowns. However, he did throw 3 INTs.

GAME MVP

Oklahoma State WR, Justion Blackmon - 8 catches, 144 yards

WHERE THE COWBOYS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

No. 8

Chattanooga vs. No. 10 Nebraska

9 of 23

The Nebraska Cornhuskers host the Chattanooga Mocs in preparation for their first season in the Big Ten. This cupcake game will get the Cornhuskers rolling before opening conference play, which will be a fun sight to see.

FINAL SCORE

Nebraska 40, Chattanooga 7

GAME RECAP

Nebraska rolled to 40 points in the first three quarters and then essentially took the fourth quarter off. They dominated on offense and defense, and they look ready to roll for games that will actually provide some competition for them.

GAME MVP

Nebraska QB, Taylor Martinez - 11-22, 166 yards passing and 19 carries for 135 yards and 3 TDs rushing

WHERE THE BADGERS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

No. 10. The Ducks slide will stop at No. 9.

UNLV vs. No 11 Wisconsin

10 of 23

The favorites to win the Big Ten, the Wisconsin Badgers kicked off their season by hosting the UNLV Rebels in one of the first games of the season.

Wisconsin proved their worth as they came away with a huge win to start their 2011 campaign.

FINAL SCORE: Wisconsin 51UNLV 17

GAME RECAP
I could have sworn I was watching an NFL preseason game. Things went horribly for UNLV. So much so that Russell Wilson was allowed a little rest in the second half.
Both he and Montee Ball were on fire. Wilson was 10-for-13 for 255 yards throwing, collecting two touchdowns by the air.
Ball provided a key outlet for Wilson. One checkdown run took him 60 yards in the second quarter. At the end of the day, Ball had four touchdowns, three on the ground.
The Badgers looked flawless in game one.
GAME MVP
Have to give Co-MVP's here: Russell Wilson and Montee Ball.
WHERE THE BADGERS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS
It all depends on the top ten. This was a drubbing. There is no taking that away from Wisconsin, but UNLV was grossly overmatched.
It will take a slip up from the elite teams, but Wisconsin is on the right track. We could see them jumping as high as the 7 spot depending on who loses the Oregon vs. LSU game.

East Carolina vs. No. 12 South Carolina

11 of 23

A Carolina battle of East and South, this game will be played on a neutral site in Charlotte, North Carolina. The South Carolina Gamecocks shouldn't have any trouble with the East Carolina Pirates.

FINAL SCORE

South Carolina 56, East Carolina 37

GAME RECAP

The Gamecocks fell behind early in this contest and actually trailed at halftime, 24-14. That deficit did not survive the third quarter. Steve Spurrier's crew came out firing in the third quarter. USC erupted for 28 third quarter points and any ideas of an upset were put to rest.

GAME MVP

South Carolina RB, Marcus Lattimore - 23 carries, 112 yards, 3 TDs

WHERE THE GAMECOCKS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

No. 12

Appalachian State vs. No. 13 Virginia Tech

12 of 23

The Virginia Tech Hokies will host the Appalachian State Mountaineers, and they'll do their best to avoid being embarrassed by another small school.

In 2010, James Madison upset a talented Hokies team, and in 2011, Virginia Tech must replace key playmakers.

FINAL SCORE: Virginia Tech 66, Appalachian State 13

GAME RECAP

Virginia Tech made absolutely sure they wouldn't suffer another embarrassing early-season loss to an FCS squad in this one. The Hokies jumped out to a 52-0 advantage thanks to the solid play of quarterback Logan Thomas and running back David Wilson along with four turnovers by the Mountaineers.

GAME MVP

The game ball for his one belongs to Wilson, the junior 'back, for notching 162 yards and three scores on just 16 carries

WHERE THE HOKIES WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

Probably in the low teens, though they could sneak into the Top 10 depending on what happens to Boise State and between LSU and Oregon.

No. 14 TCU vs. Baylor

13 of 23

TCU has just proved that you can, in fact, ruin your season in just one game. Against a not so good Baylor Squad, TCU stumbled and fell in their opening contest. It's a blow they are unlikely to recover from.

FINAL RESULT: Baylor 50, TCU 48

GAME RECAP

It wasn't pretty for either team tonight. While Baylor ran out to a big lead in the first half they would watch it be whittled away as TCU finally remembered why they had been flirting with the National Championship the last couple of seasons. But they were the victim of too little too late as a fourth quarter field goal would doom the Horned Frogs.

TCU had been the perennial bridesmaids and caused on outrage over their exclusion from the BCS title game. Well, for those rooting for TCU to finally break the curse of the small, nobody school, they can think again. Only this time they have themselves to blame.

GAME MVP

This game was all about Robert Griffin III. You'll be seeing his name all over Sportscenter for the next weeks as he lit up the Horned Frogs with 359 yards in the air and 5 TD passed. While people will have RGIII fever for a while, don't get your hopes up. Playing on a so-so team rarely gets the Heisman love one is looking for.

WHERE WILL TCU LAND IN THE POLLS

Tough to say. It's unlikely that TCU gets bounced from the Top 25. They did almost win. You'd expect them to have to fall to around 20, assuming there are no other Top 25 upsets behind them. TCU has been near the top of the polls over the last few years but you can forget about that. While there is still time to salvage the season and make a BCS game, they have put themselves in a mighty big hole to start.

Missouri State vs. No. 15 Arkansas

14 of 23

Ryan who?  The Arkansas Razorbacks new starting quarterback Tyler Wilson made fans instantly forget about Ryan Mallett.  The junior passer led Arkansas to a thrashing victory that the Missouri State Bears should’ve seen coming.

FINAL RESULT: Arkansas 51, Missouri St. 7

GAME RECAP

Missouri State’s belief that they could pull a historic upset evaporated rather quickly on Saturday.  Five minutes into the game, Arkansas was already up 13 to nothing and they extended that lead to 20 by the end of the first quarter.  The Razorbacks dominated the entire game.

They would’ve shut the Bears out if it weren’t for a third quarter fumble that was followed by a 33-yard touchdown pass the very next play.  If it weren’t for those two plays, Arkansas would’ve shut out Missouri State.  Speaking of two plays…

GAME MVP

Return ace Joe Adams has to get the player of the game after returning two punts for touchdowns.  His 61-yard return TD in the first is what gave the Razorbacks a two-score lead and sucked the life out of the Bears.  His 78-yard return in the third quarter was meaningless in terms of the outcome of the game, but that doesn’t take away from the accomplishment.

WHERE ARKANSAS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

No. 14

South Florida vs. No. 16 Notre Dame

15 of 23

The only statistic that matters is the final score.  Notre Dame recorded twice as many yards on Saturday as South Florida, 508 to 254, but at the end of the day, that advantage didn’t mean much.  When the storm subsided, the Bulls were the ones left standing.

FINAL RESULT: South Florida 23, Notre Dame 20

GAME RECAP

Notre Dame couldn’t have expected to get shut out in the first half against unranked South Florida, but that’s exactly what happened.  The Bulls entered the half with a 16 to nothing lead over the Fighting Irish.  Down 23 to seven in the fourth quarter, Notre Dame fought back hard, but ran out of time.

While the upset was a big deal, the storm that delayed the game made even bigger headlines.  Lightning kept the teams in their locker rooms at halftime for over two hours.  There was another delay that lasted over 40 minutes with under five minutes left in regulation.

GAME MVP

B.J. Daniels didn’t have a spectacular game passing or running the football.  Combined though, he put the South Florida offense on his back to upset the Fighting Irish.  Daniels finished the day with 128 yards and a touchdown through the air and 37 more yards on the ground.

WHERE NOTRE DAME WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

No. 20

Youngstown State vs. No. 17 Michigan State

16 of 23

Michigan State, the No. 17 ranked team, was likely looking past Youngstown State. It's not exactly the marquee game on the schedule, and they proved right to do so. The Spartans were in control from the get go and this game was an easy win.

FINAL SCORE: Michigan State 28, Youngstown State 6

GAME RECAP

This game lacked any sort of the drama that fans were treated to in the TCU vs. Baylor contest. This was as plain and simple as Michigan State could do it. Kirk Cousins threw for a TD pass while Le"Veon Bell punched two more in on the ground. In the end this game was about defensive control and good clock management. It was clear very early that Youngstown State was outmatched and Michigan State never let them forget it.

GAME MVP

If there can be a team MVP then Michigan State deserves it. At the end of the day this was a game they were supposed to win and win with ease. They came out and never took it right to Youngtown State. It's why they are top 25.

WHERE THE SPARTANS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

They are sure to leap frog the Horned Frogs in the polls. While they may not swap spots at No. 14, they should get a bump. The good news is they are off on the right foot and they have a couple of teams in front of them that they will play this year. This win didn't appear to be much on the schedule, but it could put them inside the Top 15.

Akron vs. No. 18 Ohio State

17 of 23

The Ohio State Buckeyes had a rough offseason, but they're looking to put it all behind them when they host the Akron Zips in the season opener.

Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, they'll be without big playmakers Dan Herron and DeVier Posey.

When: Saturday, September 3, 12:00 PM ET

Watch: ESPN, ESPN3.com

Preview

After a huge scandal that cost the Buckeyes their head coach and starting quarterback, Ohio State is looking to start fresh and just move on.

They don't have much of a challenge against the Zips, but it will be good to see senior quarterback Joe Bauserman in action, as well as true freshman quarterback Braxton Miller. Both are continuing to compete for the job, although interim head coach Luke Fickell said Bauserman will more than likely be the full-time starter.

FINAL SCORE: Ohio State 42, Akron 0

GAME RECAP

The Luke Fickell era got off to a roaring start, albeit against an Akron team that went 1-11 in 2010. The Buckeyes dominated from start to finish, with the quarterback tandem of Joe Bauserman and Braxton Miller combining to complete 20 of 28 passes for 293 yards and four scores.

GAME MVP

The game ball for this one belongs to the Buckeyes defense, which pitched a shutout against the Zips while allowing only 90 yards for the game

WHERE THE BUCKEYES WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

Look for Ohio State to stay fairly steady in the Top 25, with a move up a spot or two at most depending on how things shake out this weekend.

Memphis vs. No. 20 Mississippi State

18 of 23

The Memphis Tigers and Mississippi State Bulldogs squared off in their season-opening clash at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.

Mississippi State came away with a boatload of confidence in a shellacking that gets them off on the right foot.

FINAL SCORE: Mississippi State 59, Memphis 14

GAME RECAP
Mississippi State had Memphis gasping for air from the start. They were bigger, stronger and by far faster.
Both teams pounded each other at the line with incessant rushing attacks. The Bulldogs proved they had the staff to accomplish such things.
Chris Relf had a superb game after some early jitters. He went 13-for-21 for over 200 yards and two touchdowns, but the best was Vick Ballard.
Ballard just has a nose for holes, and the end zone. He was patient all game, allowing the line to open a path for him, and then he was gone.
By games end, he had 166 yards on 10 carries. He earned each of his three touchdowns.
GAME MVP
Vick Ballard
WHERE THE BULLDOGS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS
There are some cupcake games from 10-20. Most of the squads above Mississippi State should have similar results to this debacle.
Any slip by the above teams, or a game that it too close for comfort will have Mississippi State sniffing the top 15.

Miami (Ohio) vs. No. 21 Missouri

19 of 23

The Missouri Tigers get their regular season underway with a clash against the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks at home in Columbia, Missouri.

FINAL SCORE: Missouri 17, Miami (OH) 6

GAME RECAP

Missouri quarterback James Franklin got the scoring started with the Tigers with a five-year touchdown in the 1st quarter. Senior kicker Grant Ressel was on target from 38 yards to give the Tigers a 10-0 halftime lead.

Erik Finklea brought the Redhawks back within four midway through the 3rd quarter with a 10-yard gallop to paydirt, but kicker Mason Krysinski missed the extra point attempt.

James Franklin's touchdown pass to Marcus Lucas sealed the victory for the Tigers.

GAME MVP

Missouri QB James Franklin (17-26 for 129 yards and TD through air, 14 carries for 72 yards and TD on the ground)

WHERE THE TIGERS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

Barring a major upset ahead of them, the Tigers will should remain No. 21.

Florida Atlantic vs. No. 22 Florida

20 of 23

The Florida Gators look to put last season’s misery behind them with a strong showing against the cupcake Florida Atlantic Owls at the Swamp in Gainesville.

FINAL SCORE: Florida 41, Florida Atlantic 3

Game Recap

Caleb Sturgis got the scoring started for Florida with a 50-yard field goal. John Brantley hooked up with Chris Rainey for a 14-yard touchdown pass to make it 10-0 Gators after the 1st quarter.

Jeff Demps scampered 35 yards on the first play of the 2nd quarter and Rainey showed off his versatility with a 14-yard touchdown run to give the Gators a 24-0 lead. Vinny Zaccario got the Owls on the board right before halftime with a 27-yard field goal.

Chris Rainey started the second half by pulling off the rare trifecta: receiving touchdown, rushing touchdown and blocked punt return touchdown. He scooped up a loose ball after Mickey Groody's punt was blocked and ran 21 yards to the end zone to make it 31-3 Florida.

Demps picked up his second touchdown early in the 4th and Sturgis, who opened the scoring, also closed it with a 29-yard field goal to finish off the 41-3 rout.

GAME MVP

Florida WR Chris Rainey (Three touchdowns: one rushing, one receiving and one on special teams)

WHERE THE GATORS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

A victory over Florida Atlantic doesn't win the Gators many brownie points, but with Notre Dame losing to South Florida and Georgia going down to Boise St., Florida could move inside the top 20.

Utah State vs. No. 23 Auburn

21 of 23

The Auburn Tigers look to get their title defense off to a fast start against the Utah State Aggies with their home date at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday.

FINAL SCORE: Auburn 42, Utah State 38

GAME RECAP

Utah State were on track for an upset in the first half, getting touchdowns from Kerwynn Williams, Chuckie Keeton and Robert Turbin to lead 21-14. A touchdown reception by Emory Blake and kickoff return by Tre Mason provided Auburn's points.

After a Michael Dyer touchdown run tied the game at 24, Utah State was able to regain the lead on a Josh Thompson 34-yard field goal. However, Barrett Trotter then found Travante Stallworth for a 39-yard touchdown to give the Tigers their first lead late in the 3rd quarter.

Keeton scored his second rushing touchdown of the day and Turbin followed suit with his second one-yard plunge of the afternoon to put the underdog Aggies up 38-28 with 4:00 left in the game.

However, Auburn fought back again. Trotter hit Philip Lutzenkirchen for a 15-yard score with 2:12 remaining to bring the Tigers back within three. After recovering an onside kick, Auburn marched down the field one more time and a Dyer one-yard run gave the Tigers the win.

GAME MVP

Auburn QB Barrett Trotter (17-23 for 259 yards and three TDs, 11.3 yards per attempt)

WHERE THE TIGERS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

Having to fight so hard to defeat an unranked Aggies squad won't help the Tigers' cause, they'll remain around No. 23.

Marshall vs. No. 24 West Virginia

22 of 23

The West Virginia Mountaineers will start their season off by hosting the Marshall Thundering Herd at Mountaineer Field.

When: Sunday, September 4, 3:30 P.M. ET

Watch: ESPN, ESPN3.com

Game Preview:

West Virginia is a heavy favorite against Marshall despite some offseason turmoil. The match-up is called the "Coal Bowl" and should provide the Mountaineers with a safe start to the season. The Thundering Herd will have to see everything fall correctly to have a chance in this one.

Prediction: West Virginia, 42-14

Minnesota vs. No. 25 USC

23 of 23

The USC Trojans look to continue their rebuilding efforts this season, and a win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers at home in the Coliseum in Los Angeles would certainly help with the process.

FINAL SCORE: USC 19, Minnesota 17

Game Recap:

Matt Barkley got the scoring started with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Robert Woods. A new extra point formation that turned into a two-point conversion attempt failed, leaving the score at 6-0 Trojans.

Barkley found Woods again in the 2nd quarter, this time from 43 yards out to extend the Trojans' lead. However, USC failed on a two-point conversion attempt for the second straight time. Minnesota added a field goal to make it 12-3 late in the period.

Just before halftime, Barkley and Woods hooked up for a third time. They are quickly establishing themselves as one of the top QB-WR duos in the nation. Lane Kiffin decided to go conventional and take the free point to put the Trojans up 19-3 at the half.

The Golden Gophers made it close in the second half, getting scores from Duane Bennett and Brandon Green to make it 19-17, but they couldn't take the lead.

If they would have kicked a game-winning field goal, Kiffin would have had to answer a lot of questions about the two points he let get away with failed two-point conversions.

GAME MVP

WR Robert Woods (18 catches for 174 yards and three touchdowns)

WHERE THE TROJANS WILL LAND IN THE POLLS

The Trojans could see a boost to No. 24 if Notre Dame loses, otherwise they'll probably remain No. 25 heading into Week Two.
