Last night the Boston College Eagles defeated No.20 Florida State Seminoles. It was a game where no one really gave BC a chance to win. Florida State had only lost once before on its homecoming weekend. It was a black out, for the FSU fans and players. FSU came out in their intimidating black uniforms, but the Eagles were anything but scared. BC clinched its 10th straight winning season.
Each year, people underestimate the strength of BC football. Last year with Matt Ryan, LV Withworth, Andre Callender, Kevin Challenger, Jolann Dunbar, Jamie Silva, DeJuan Tribble, and the list goes on.
Last year's Senior class was one of the best in BC history. BC wasn't even ranked in the preseason top 25 last year and worked their way up to No.2 in the nation. BC was projected to win eight games last year. Are you kidding me? And you call yourselves college football experts?!
This year BC was expected to win about seven games according to these so called 'experts.' BC is two wins away from winning its second straight ACC Atlantic championship.
BC is rarely given any credit to by the press because they don't bring in five star recruits. BC brings in a certain breed of players, regardless of how many stars are next to their names. A prime example is Montell Harris. A two star recruit who ran all over the FSU defense, which is full of those five star recruits.
BC recruits smart players on offense and big guys on defense (Raji and Brace). BC is easily the most underrated football team in the nation. But how does a team like BC compete with teams like Clemson and FSU?
Clemson is a prime example of a program recruits based on stars. They go out and get five star recruits, who turn out to be flops because they don't play alike or well together.
You can attribute 110 percent of that problem to the worst coach in college football, Tommy Bowden. He spoiled his players and didn't have a clue when it came to building a college football team. Clemson has, however, made a turn for the better by firing Bowden.
BC is looked past every single season. Year in and year out, people forget about them. Every single year, BC slowly creeps back into the top 25. When are these experts going to learn that they should be in the top 25 because they make an appearance every single season.
I think BC likes flying under the radar. They always play underdog, and they like it. Other teams don't even give BC respect. In last nights game, FSU was going to kick a field goal to cut the lead to four.
But quickly the offense came running out onto the field hoping to catch BC off guard. BC wasn't phased. They stood in there and brought the heat and stopped FSU two yards short of the marker. Does FSU think BC is stupid? BC has one of the best defensive coordinators in the land; Frank Spaziani.
BC will continue to fly under the radar. If BC makes the ACC championship game again, well lets just say, they are demanding respect.

Florida State gave that game away by being undisciplined and getting stupid penalties. Boston College is not that good. I give them credit though they showed and took advantage of the mistakes that Florida State made. Turnovers and penalties killed the Seminoles from beginning to end. If they were to play this game again Florida State would win. FSU is the better team. All BC has to do is win out and they are going to Tampa and I guess that's all that matter to them and their fans. Congrads.

I agree. Although I am not going to say FSU lost because of the their top receivers being suspended but I believe if Surrency and especially Easterling and Reed were in the game, it would have provided extra weapons for FSU to use. Easterling had seemingly been the go-to receiver for third-downs during the season and if FSU had more options in the passing game, it could have opened up the running game.
FSU bought into the hype of the black out and the suspensions. I do not know how the game plan changed but with the suspensions coming out on Friday afternoon, I can almost be certain the game plan FSU practiced offensively during the week changed drastically from the one that was called during the game on Saturday.
It seems next year is almost an guaranteed victory for FSU against BC since apparently FSU can only beat BC at BC and BC can only beat FSU at FSU (and wearing black uniforms). It does make me hopeful that anyone can still essentially win the ACC Atlantic with Maryland only controlling their destiny but they seem to choke when ranked and lose against teams they should beat. It seems multiple factors must happen for each team to win the Atlantic.

I knew BC was gonna win the game when the pulled the onside kick off...BC went balls out and played a more aggressive game, but yeah FSU is the better team, they are really struggling with identity...They have always competed for national championships, but now things are changing...I would like to see FSU, Miami, Virginia Tech, and Clemson returns as national powers again...the ACC needs it as a conference...thanks for the comment!

Wow... you really have your FSU blinders on. I must have been watching a different game because BC dominated that game. The big O line controlled the game from the kickoff. There were no lucky passes or last minute "hail mary". So, how you can say FSU is a better team confounds me. Did you notice how many rushing yards FSU had? Where was the vaunted rushing attach... they were getting hammered for losses. BC had plenty of turnovers and penalty's... so don't blame that for the loss. BC has gotten better and tougher all year long. What coach Jags is doing is going to be trouble for years to come in the ACC.

BC never shows up for the big games. You made the point exactly in your article when you said they got up to 2 in the polls last year....... and lost 3 of last 5 regular season games. Wow talk about a choke job. This year they could have beaten UNC but they got stomped, they lost to a dissapointing Clemson team, and they lost to GT early. Seems like you've got the respect you deserve.
Don't get me wrong I like Boston College. I just don't think they're underrated.

Wow, really? It isn't just this year and last year...Look at BC the past 5 or 6 years, every year people expect them to win 8 games and for the most part they have won 9 games every year. You can't say BC is underrated this year with two freshman running backs and a new starting QB. BC has turned it around ever since the Notre Dame game, they are a whole new team now.

BC is ranked 14th in the nation in wins since 2003 with 54...USC is first with 68. 54 wins ranks 2nd amongst the ACC in this category. VT is first with 55.

BC is ranked 7th in the nation in road record since the last six years. First in the ACC. Obviously USC is number 1. They also have the nations longest winning streak against non conference foes including a bowl game at 21.

Ok.....
1. Polls don't rank teams based on the last six years.
2. Again you are making my point of BC not winning the big games. They are 14th in wins the past six seasons and have no championships of any kind to show for it. Until you win a championship of any kind you won't get any respect.

I said championships of any kind. Like conference maybe. What do you want? your little school to be put a pedestal because they win 8 or 9 games a year? they play in a weaker conference, which they haven't won yet and they play nobodies in non conference except for ND who has been horrible of late. I'm not saying they deserve no respect im saying they are not top tier. I mean name some really good teams BC has beat lately and I'll agree with you.
You might wanna watch your mouth too. your ad hominem arguments are not very convincing.

Ummm... Clemson has only signed three five star recruits, including one who is a starting freshman this year, in the past seven years. The other two five star recruits were from 2006 signing class, Ricky Sapp and C J Spiller, have spent significant time recovering from injuries this season, but have still contributed. They have contributed well in the past two years though.
It wasn't really until Clemson's stadium and football facilities expansion, beginning with the 2006 class, that Clemson became a national player in recruiting.
Unless you just have an ax to grind against Tommy Bowden, I don't understand your comment about him. Clemson has hardly been the home of the uppermost of the topmost regarded recruits in the land. I believe that Clemson has only had top 15 classes twice in Tommy Bowden's 10 year tenure at Clemson.
