After an abysmal 2010 college football season that ended with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons going 3-9, they now prepare to try to right the ship.

Here, I will go through position by position and grade each unit of the offense. From the quarterback to the offensive linemen, each unit is equally important in assuring a successful 2011 campaign.

Overall Offense: C+

What is there to say about this Wake Forest offense?

They return eight starters on offense, including the entire offensive line, and can’t be worse than last year’s team.

I expect offensive production to increase at least 20 percent and points scored to go from 22.8 points per game to around 27 points per game.

Quarterback: C-

Tanner Price returns for his second season under the helm for the Demon Deacons, and with an experienced group returning, expectations call for better results in 2011.

I mean it can’t get worse...could it?

Running Backs: C+

The running back position brings back a starter as well.

Sophomore Josh Harris returns and looks to improve from a solid freshman season. With the struggles of the passing game, Harris will be the primary offensive weapon.

Wide Receivers and Tight Ends: C+

This unit doesn’t get much praise, and not having a solid passer to get the ball out makes the receivers seem even less important.

Chris Givens is the only returning starting wide receiver, and tight end Andrew Parker will probably be Price’s go-to guy.

The receivers will need to carry the offense.

I mean, who else will?

Offensive Line: B

I’m probably giving this group too much credit, but when you return all five starters and are starting four seniors, you should be somewhat good.

If this group can’t accomplish something good this year, it’s not going to look good next year.
