College Football Recruiting 2012: Early Look at Top 10 2013 Recruits
We're going to take a pause away from 2012 recruiting and try to throw 10 darts at some potential top names for 2013. Recruiting starts earlier and earlier every year folks, Mack Brown will tell you that.
For this read, I'm going to give you 10 names to watch out for next cycle. You may be surprised at the top of this lists.
Here we go.
10. Lovell Peterson, OC
1 of 10Peterson is a 6'4", 270 pounder going into his junior year. He is viewed as perhaps the most athletic 2013 OL prospect in the country.
Some say he will be a center in college while others say he can play tackle. He already holds an offer from Illinois but Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan are coming on.
9. Tramel Terry, CB/WR
2 of 10Terry is a 6'0", 185 pound super athlete that work as a WR or corner. He's extremely loose in the hips, light on his feet and speedy.
He was leaning toward in-state South Carolina, but has committed to Georgia. Last big name player that left the Palmetto state for Athens was A.J. Green and we all know how his career turned out for UGA.
8. DeMarcus Robinson, WR
3 of 10Robinson hails from the Peach state and is a 6'2", 200 pound receiver. He plays pretty physical, has solid strength and quickness to beat press-man off the line and has a lovely catch radius.
He has interest from the likes of Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Alabama among others. Watch out for him next year.
7. Shane Morris, QB
4 of 10A 6'3" southpaw from Michigan, Morris is headed to...well...Michigan. Brady Hoke loves his skill set and make up and Morris is an elite QB prospect for the 2013 class.
He chose Michigan over Michigan State and Syracuse among a few others and has won 13 of his first 17 starts as a QB.
6. O.J. Howard, TE
5 of 10Howard is a big and athletic TE that is good to go right now. He's 6'5", 215 pounds and can do it all from the middle of the field but also be used as a joker type.
He wasted no time in his recruitment and pledged to Alabama. Howard could play LB in Tuscaloosa.
5. Sojourn Shelton, DB
6 of 10Shelton is just 5'9", 160 pounds right now, but let's not forget he just completed his sophomore year in high school. I expect him to be in the 5'11", 175-180 pound range as a senior.
He's already committed to Florida State thanks to his elite athletic ability and sticky cover skills.
4. Brice Ramsey, QB
7 of 10Ramsey has drawn comparisons to Matthew Stafford, but he doesn't have much experience since he's been a back up for the past few years. But people in the know will tell you that the 6'3", 200 pounder has a chance to be special.
He's got a cannon for an arm and can fit the ball in the tightest of windows. Florida State, Clemson and Georgia have offered already.
3. Derrick Henry, RB
8 of 10Henry is a huge RB with great speed to boot. He stands 6'2", weighs 235 pounds and has sub 4.5 speed. He's already topped 5,000 yards in his prep career.
This battle already seems to be down to Florida and Georgia. Henry is the best junior in the Sunshine State and had over 40 offers, but he has stated it's really between the Bulldogs and Gators.
2. Reuben Foster, LB
9 of 10Foster is a 6'1", 230 pound LB that Scout.com says would be a 5-star recruit if he were 2012 player. He's a super instinctive thumper type that I think may be the top LB prospect for 2013 right now.
He's so good that Alabama and Georgia offered him when he was a freshman in high school. He has since committed to Alabama.
1. Robert Nkemdiche, DE
10 of 10Nkemdiche is on Mario Edwards', Darius Hamilton's and Noah Spence's level right now. Scout.com thinks he may be the top overall prospect next year and could even be the best prep player right now.
He's a 6'4" 265 pound DE prospect that has all the tools to be a dominant player. From strength, power, speed, quickness, agility and instincts, Nkemdiche has it all.
Alabama leads Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Georgia Tech, South Carolina and BYU right now.
