College Football 2011: The Scariest Game on the Schedule for Every FBS Team
Every team in America has that one game on their schedule. That game that you know just scares you to think what might happen.
The game may be one that you know you have no chance in, it may be a team looking to avenge last years loss, or it may just be a game that you think your program could end up overlooking.
Regardless of how you look at things, all 120 teams in the nation have a game that could end up costing them some of their goals they worked all offseason for.
Which game should your team be scared of?
Air Force
1 of 120Opponent: San Diego State
After back to back games against Navy and Notre Dame, Air Force will be taking on San Diego State. While the rushing attack should be good, they will struggle to pull out a victory after a tough schedule.
Akron
2 of 120Opponent: at Ohio State
Starting your season on the road against Ohio State is generally not a good thing. Despite all the missing pieces for the Buckeyes, there is still too much talent and depth for the Zips to keep up with.
Alabama
3 of 120Opponent: at Penn State
Nick Saban is a tireless coach who always has his team ready for every game. If there is a game that could be dangerous for the Crimson Tide, it will be their visit to Happy Valley against Penn State.
Arizona
4 of 120Opponent: at Oklahoma State
Arizona probably has the toughest four game start in the nation. After an easy opening week game, they head on the road to take on Oklahoma State and return to play Stanford and Oregon.
The nightmare start will begin against the Cowboys as the offense will just be too much to handle.
Arizona State
5 of 120Opponent: at Oregon
Dennis Erickson knows that this is a put up or shut up year for him. Arizona State is viewed as one of the favorites to win the Pac-12 South and after an early game against USC, Arizona State will head to Autzen Stadium in the middle of October, a place they have had very little success.
Arkansas
6 of 120Opponent: at Alabama
While some teams get to ease into conference play, Arkansas is being shoved into the lions den as they head on the road to take on Alabama. Last year Bama won by four points and without Ryan Mallett to defend, the Crimson Tide may have an easier time pulling out a win.
Arkansas State
7 of 120Opponent: at Western Kentucky
Last year, Arkansas State had pulled off two straight victories and may have been caught looking forward to the Navy game when they lost to Western Kentucky. This year, they must make sure they don't fall into the same trap.
Army
8 of 120Opponent: Navy
Much like most years, Army has the most on the line when taking on Navy. The game puts two of the service academies up against each other in a great rivalry. You can see the pride and passion that these men play with trying to ensure they do not loss.
Auburn
9 of 120Opponent: at Clemson
Last year, the Tigers got away with an overtime victory against Clemson. This year, they will have to go on the road and try to earn a victory against a team that will be eager to return the favor. Without Cam Newton, Clemson may be able to do just that.
Ball State
10 of 120Opponent: at Oklahoma
Another team being thrown to the wolves is Ball State when they start October with a game against Oklahoma. This will certainly not be a game that will go well for the Cardinals but will allow them to gauge how their players play under hostile conditions.
Baylor
11 of 120Opponent: at Oklahoma State
For the second straight year, Baylor heads on the road to take on Oklahoma State. Last year, the Bears could not keep up with the Cowboys high powered offense and will fail to do so again this year.
Boise State
12 of 120Opponent: at Georgia
Week 1 is a make or break game for Boise State in a couple of ways. This is a chance for them to earn a huge victory on the road, something their schedule often prevents them from doing. Also, Boise State knows that a single loss will likely eliminate them from title contention.
Boston College
13 of 120Opponent: at Virginia Tech
In 2010, Virginia Tech headed on the road to take on Boston College and shut them out 19-0. This year, Boston College has to come down to Blacksburg to take on the Hokies and will have to deal with much of the same.
Bowling Green
14 of 120Opponent: Morgan State
After a two-win season in 2010, Bowling Green may look at every game like it is both dangerous and crucial to turn things around. If they fail to win their home opener against Morgan State, fans will know they are in for another year.
Buffalo
15 of 120Opponent: Stony Brook
While not many would expect Buffalo to keep their season opener close against Pittsburgh, they may feel like a win against Stony Brook is more then possible. If the game against the Panthers take too much out of them it could end up costing them two games.
BYU
16 of 120Opponent: Utah
Last year the Cougars suffered a devastating loss to Utah, 17-16. With the switch in conferences, these two teams will go up against each other early in the year and is a must win for both of them.
Cal
17 of 120Opponent: at Oregon
Autzen Stadium will come into play again as Cal will head to Eugene for a Thursday night game against the Ducks. Last year, Cal did the best job of containing Oregon's offense but with all the elements working against Cal this year, it could be a different story.
Central Michigan
18 of 120Opponent: Western Michigan
Last year, Central Michigan only won three games. This year, they have another brutal schedule but play Western Michigan early on in the year, a team they defeated in 2010. Losing to the Broncos could mark the beginning of the end of this season.
Cincinnati
19 of 120Opponent: at Tennessee
Just like other teams, Cincinnati has a chance to set the tone for the season early on. In the second week of the season, the Bearcats head on the road to take on Tennessee. If the Vols were able to build on their success down the stretch in 2010, this will be a tough game for Cincinnati to win.
Clemson
20 of 120Opponent: at Virginia Tech
September will come to an end with the Tigers taking on Florida State. Last year, these two locked up in a tight game but the talent and depth that the Seminoles have this year will be too much for Clemson, even at home.
Colorado
21 of 120Opponent: at Ohio State
Before Colorado gets properly welcomed to the Pac-12 they have to head to the Horseshoe to take on the Buckeyes. Despite the missing talent for Ohio State, this still promises to be a game that Colorado will want to forget.
Colorado State
22 of 120Opponent: San Jose State
When looking at the schedule, Colorado State will have a huge test in the middle of the season against Boise State. Before that game kicks off, they will have to play San Jose State and make sure they do not overlook them.
Connecticut
23 of 120Opponent: at West Virginia
With the loss of Randy Edsall, Connecticut will be looking to defend their conference title without him. While one loss will certainly not end the chance of a repeat, Connecticut will lose badly on the road to West Virginia, a game that could act as a possible tiebreaker down the road.
Duke
24 of 120Opponent: Stanford
Things will pick up from where they left off last year for Duke. In the second week of the season, Duke will play host to Stanford and Andrew Luck. This is a game that will be over at the half and be an unpleasant experience for the Blue Devils.
Eastern Michigan
25 of 120Opponent: at Penn State
A week after what should be an exhausting game at Michigan, the Eagles have to head on the road to play Penn State. Like other small programs, Eastern Michigan will struggle to muster the energy for the second straight week against a bigger and deeper team.
ECU
26 of 120Opponent: vs UAB
East Carolina has a hard start to the 2011 season. The start against South Carolina and Virginia Tech, which is a certain 0-2 start. What East Carolina needs to make sure is that those two games do not leave them spent for their game against UAB.
FIU
27 of 120Opponent: at Louisville
Last year, FIU was able to become bowl eligible. This year, they hope to do the same but will need to get through games like the won they have in the second week at Louisville.
Florida
28 of 120Opponent: at Kentucky
Not many people would envy the three game stretch that Florida will go through in the SEC. They will take on Alabama at home and then three straight road games against LSU, Auburn and Georgia.
Knowing that they have that in front of them, the Gators will have to remain focus against Kentucky.
Florida Atlantic
29 of 120Opponent: at Florida
When you start the year at Florida, at Michigan State and at Auburn, you could argue the entire start to your schedule is dangerous. Take your pick of the three but the season will get off to a rough start against Florida.
Florida State
30 of 120Opponent: Oklahoma
Last year these two teams met in Norman for a highly anticipated game that turned out to be a Sooner blowout. In 2011, the teams square off in Florida and with expectations high for both teams, a loss for the Seminoles will be a huge blow.
Fresno State
31 of 120Opponent: at Nebraska
For a program that is declaring that they need to go from good to great, this is their chance to show the nation that they are serious. A win here could put Fresno on the college football map.
Georgia
32 of 120Opponent: Boise State
This is a dangerous game for both the Bulldogs program and for Mark Richt. Boise State will be heading into a SEC road stadium and the entire conference will be pulling for the Bulldogs to make sure they leave with a loss.
Georgia Tech
33 of 120Opponent: Virginia Tech
In early November, Georgia Tech will welcome Virginia Tech into town but it will not be a welcome sight for the Yellow Jackets. Last year Georgia Tech failed to beat the Hokies and this year will see the same result.
Hawaii
34 of 120Opponent: at Washington
Hawaii will head back to the mainland early in 2011 and will be taking on Washington. While they will not have Jake Locker, Washington still has a strong team that will give Hawaii all they can handle.
Houston
35 of 120Opponent: UCLA
Last year, Case Keenum was lost for the season against UCLA. Those memories will be brought back up when the two teams go up against each other to start the season. If the Cougars lose Keenum again it could be devastating for the program.
Idaho
36 of 120Opponent: at Texas A&M
2010 was a decent year for the Vandals but 2011 will see little improvement. As they head on the road to play Texas A&M, they will be walking into a game that they stand little chance in.
Illinois
37 of 120Opponent: Ohio State
Ron Zook knows that entering 2011 he must have his time perform if he is looking for his time in Illinois to continue. Zook and the Illini will welcome in Ohio State in the middle of October and a victory against the Buckeyes could help cool off the heat on Zook's coaching seat.
Indiana
38 of 120Opponent: at Wisconsin
Heading to Camp Randall is a tough task for any team in the nation and this year the Hoosiers have to do so in the middle of October. With the offense and defense they will be going up against, this will be a long Saturday for Indiana.
Iowa
39 of 120Opponent: at Purdue
To end the year, Iowa will head on the road to take on Nebraska. While that will be a huge game, Iowa must make sure they do not look past the week before that game which has them on the road against Purdue.
Iowa certainly has the talent to beat the Boilermakers, they just have to make sure they avoid this trap game.
Iowa State
40 of 120Opponent: at Oklahoma
52-0 is what the scoreboard showed last year when the game between Oklahoma and Iowa State finished. This year, Oklahoma will be hosting another night game and the Cyclones will once again find themselves in trouble.
Kansas
41 of 120Opponent: Kansas State
Last year the Jayhawks got embarrassed by Kansas State and will need to erase that memory in 2011. Unfortunately, they still do not have the talent or depth to compete and will have to take another loss to the Wildcats.
Kansas State
42 of 120Opponent: at Miami
In the third week of the season, Kansas State heads down to Miami for an important out of conference game. This game will be a good gauge to see if the program is heading in the right direction under Bill Snyder.
Kent State
43 of 120Opponent: at Alabama
Things will get off to a bad start in 2011 for Kent State when they go down to Alabama for a game against the Crimson Tide. This is not the way that any program would like to start their year off.
Kentucky
44 of 120Opponent: at LSU
A night game in Death Valley is always a dangerous game to have on your schedule. If Kentucky hopes to return to a bowl game, they need to win a couple of games you do not expect them too.
Louisiana Tech
45 of 120Opponent: vs Houston
Houston quarterback Case Keenum should now have his legs under him and be back up to 100 percent. This will be bad news for Louisiana Tech as he will be ready to air them out.
Louisiana-Lafayette
46 of 120Opponent: at Oklahoma State
Simply put, Louisiana-Lafayette just does not have the talent or size to keep up with a team like Oklahoma State. The only good news will be that with it being the first game of the season, they should be fresh and will hopefully stay healthy.
Louisiana-Monroe
47 of 120Opponent: at Louisiana-Lafayette
Last year Louisiana-Monroe feel a game short of going to a bowl game and ended up losing their last game of the year by one point to Louisiana-Lafayette. In 2011, they must ensure that this game ends with a victory.
Louisville
48 of 120Opponent: at West Virginia
Louisville was able to remain competitive in most of the games that they lost last year but what works against them was the inability to capitalize on home field advantage against the Mountaineers.
This year, Louisville has to head on the back and West Virginia will send them home with a double digit loss.
LSU
49 of 120Opponent: Oregon
Oregon and LSU both know that a victory in the opening week could help propel them towards a national championship season. For LSU, the pride of the SEC will be on the line as the conference will look to show their dominance over other BCS conferences again.
Marshall
50 of 120Opponent: at West Virginia
Marshall will be starting off the 2011 season with a difficult game that will likely start them off 0-1. The Thundering Herd are still rebuilding and will run into a Mountaineers team that is hoping to return to national prominence.
Maryland
51 of 120Opponent: Miami
With new head coach Randy Edsall taking over this season, he could have a make or break to start the season off. Maryland has Miami coming to town and a victory would be huge for the Terps but a loss is not what Edsall wants to see in his first game.
Memphis
52 of 120Opponent: Mississippi State
Last year Memphis had one of the worst offensive units and that will not help them against Mississippi State. This home game will be the season opener for the Tigers and a day they will want to forget.
Miami
53 of 120Opponent: Ohio State
Another great game in the second week of the season will have Ohio State traveling to Miami for a rematch of last years game.
This year, the Buckeyes will be without some key players and failing to earn a home victory in this game is not the way that Al Golden wants to start the year.
Miami University
54 of 120Opponent: at Missouri
Like last year, Miami of Ohio will have another tough out of conference game. This year they head to Missouri to take on the Tigers and again will be able to impact the outlook of their season.
Michigan
55 of 120Opponent: at Michigan State
What most Wolverine fans fail to admit is the fact that Michigan State is catching up to them and doing some rapidly. For the past few years, the Spartans have had the Wolverines number and the Michigan faithful will have to endure another loss this year.
Michigan State
56 of 120Opponent: Michigan
This is a dangerous game for the Spartans because they must strike while the iron is hot. They have had the Wolverines number and recruits and fans are starting to notice. A win at home will go a long way but a loss would be devastating.
Middle Tennessee
57 of 120Opponent: at Troy
With Middle Tennessee starting the year off against Purdue and Georgia Tech, the Blue Raiders will need to be sharp against Troy in the third week of the season.
Minnesota
58 of 120Opponent: at USC
Last year the Golden Gophers kept things close against the Trojans but could not capitalize with a victory. In 2011, Minnesota heads to USC and things could get ugly this year.
With Matt Barkley under center, the Trojans should be able to throw the ball at will.
Mississippi State
59 of 120Opponent: at Memphis
Mississippi State needs to make sure they are not so focused on the difficulty and challenges of the conference schedule that they overlook their season opener against Memphis.
Missouri
60 of 120Opponent: at Oklahoma
Last year the Tigers took down Oklahoma at home and it appears that the schedule makers have not forgot about that as this years game is already been pegged for a 8 p.m. kickoff in Norman.
The Sooners and their crowd will be ready for this game and the Tigers will have to try and weather the storm early on.
Navy
61 of 120Opponent: at South Carolina
Three weeks into the season, Navy makes a trip down to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks. This game will be dangerous for the Midshipmen due to the size and skill of South Carolina. South Carolina should have no issues winning this game.
NC State
62 of 120Opponent: at Florida State
Just before Halloween, NC State will head on the road to take on Florida State. This will be a tough year to begin with for NC State as they are now without Russell Wilson. Don't expect the Seminoles to have any sympathy.
Nebraska
63 of 120Opponent: at Wisconsin
This year the Huskers will be taking the program to the Big 10 and will get things started with a road date with Wisconsin. With the recent addition of Russell Wilson, Nebraska will have their hands full at Camp Randall.
Nevada
64 of 120Opponent: at Oregon
Nevada opens their season a week after Oregon and will do so on the road. The Wolf Pack will come into a loud Autzen Stadium and will be playing a Ducks team that just beat LSU or is looking to take out its frustrations after a loss. Either way, not a good spot.
New Mexico
65 of 120Opponent: New Mexico State
When you only win one game last year, is their a dangerous game the following year? Probably not but their home game against New Mexico State will be their best chance for a victory in 2011.
New Mexico State
66 of 120Opponent: at Georgia
Last year did not go well for New Mexico State. Only two victories in 2010 are going to be followed up by maybe another two in 2011. Towards the end of the year, they will be playing a Georgia team that will be in no mood to mess around.
North Carolina
67 of 120Opponent: at Virginia Tech
Another late season game will have North Carolina hitting the road to play Virginia Tech. To make things worse for the Heels, this will be a Thursday Night game that will ensure that Blacksburg will be rocking.
North Texas
68 of 120Opponent: at FIU
With Houston, Alabama, and Indiana all on the schedule early, North Texas must keep their eyes on the season opener against FIU.
Northern Illinois
69 of 120Opponent: Army
After a good year in 2010, the tendency might be to look past Army and put an eye on Kansas and Wisconsin. Army always puts in a solid effort and will beat the Huskies should they look past them.
Northwestern
70 of 120Opponent: at Iowa
Northwestern is a team that will truly struggle in the new Big 10. Towards the middle of the season, they will have to head on the road for a game against Iowa and it could be a low point in their entire season.
Notre Dame
71 of 120Opponent: at Michigan
Every year Irish fans come into the season with high hopes and expectation for the Notre Dame football. This year, the Irish appear to have the talent to back up the expectations but a Week 2 loss to Michigan could derail it all and send the Irish reeling for the remainder of the year.
Ohio
72 of 120Opponent: at Buffalo
Ohio will hit the midway point of their season with a game at Buffalo. While this is a game they should win, it could easily be a game that they overlook and end up losing.
Ohio State
73 of 120Opponent: at Miami
After two warmup games against Akron and Toledo, Ohio State heads to Miami for a rematch of last years game. Ohio State will be missing some key talent and if they want to keep their eyes on a possible national title run, they must find a way to win against the Hurricanes.
Oklahoma
74 of 120Opponent: at Florida State
Oklahoma knows that last years victory over Florida State will only act as motivation for the Seminoles. This game will be one of the major tests as the Sooners hope to make a title run in 2011.
Oklahoma State
75 of 120Opponent: Oklahoma
Last years offensive shootout went down to the wire as the Sooners escaped with a 47-41 victory over the Cowboys. Not much will be different this year as the stakes are sure to be as high as the scores.
Ole Miss
76 of 120Opponent: at Fresno State
Sandwiched in between home games against Georgia and Alabama is a game on the road against Fresno State. Fresno State's head coach Pat Hill is trying to push this team to a national level and could make a small statement by beating the Rebels.
Oregon
77 of 120Opponent: LSU
Oregon will have to be at full speed coming out of summer camp because their Week 1 opponent is LSU. In order for the Ducks to win this game, they will need solid line play and for some unknown receivers to elevate their game.
Oregon State
78 of 120Opponent: at Wisconsin
After getting one week to get the offense and defense situated, Oregon State will head on the road to take on a tough Wisconsin team. With new quarterback Russell Wilson, this game could get ugly for the Beavers.
Penn State
79 of 120Opponent: Alabama
These two historic programs will go up against each other again in 2011 after the Crimson Tide earned the victory in 2010. With the ease that Alabama defeated Penn State last year, the Nittany Lions will need to try and strike back this year.
Pittsburgh
80 of 120Opponent: at Iowa
Pittsburgh runs into an early stretch of games that will define their season. That run of games begins on the road with Iowa. A win here could give them the confidence to move forward but a loss could have carry over effects to the Notre Dame game.
Purdue
81 of 120Opponent: vs Notre Dame
Purdue started last year on the road in South Bend and left with a loss against the Irish. This year, the two teams will wait until the start of October before meeting. The Irish appear to have a solid team and should be able to make short work of the Boilermakers.
Rice
82 of 120Opponent: at Texas
Like last year, Rice gets their season underway with a game against Texas. With the struggles that Texas went through last year, Rice may have a chance to capitalize with a victory but like always the talent will just end up being to much for them to handle.
Rutgers
83 of 120Opponent: at North Carolina
Just two weeks into the season, Rutgers will hit the road to take on North Carolina. Rutgers is still developing and trying to build some depth, making this a hard game to keep close.
San Diego State
84 of 120Opponent: at Michigan
In 2010, San Diego State put together a great season. In 2011, they will be without coach Brady Hoke and going up against him in the fourth week of the season. With more talent and depth, Hoke will end up with the last laugh in this game.
San Jose State
85 of 120Opponent: at Stanford
Bad news for San Jose State is that Andrew Luck stayed at Stanford for another season and will look to get the Cardinal rolling early in 2011.
SMU
86 of 120Opponent: at Texas A&M
Much like Tulsa, SMU is starting their season off with a game that is almost a no-win situation. The Aggies have way to much talent and the goal in this game will be to just evaluate your depth and leave with everyone healthy.
South Carolina
87 of 120Opponent: at Georgia
South Carolina will be taking on the Bulldogs and Mark Richt will be coaching for his job. South Carolina will be taking on a team that has the confidence after a win over Boise State or the desperation to not start 0-2, either way it is a dangerous spot for the Gamecocks.
South Florida
88 of 120Opponent: at Notre Dame
While it will not hurt them in their hopes to win the Big East, South Florida has to start their season out with a game in South Bend against Notre Dame. The talent and the depth are just not there to keep the game close and South Florida will have to rebound quickly as they take on Ball State the following week.
Southern Miss
89 of 120Opponent: at UAB
Last year, Southern Miss put together a good season in Conference USA but failed to defeat UAB. This year, they hope to repeat their success but have a different ending to their game against UAB.
Stanford
90 of 120Opponent: Oregon
Stanford has the benefit of a schedule that truly does not ramp up until the end of the year. Besides for the game at USC, their is little reason that the Cardinal should not be undefeated coming into this game.
Luck and company will have to be sharp as they watched a 21-3 lead last year turn into a 52-31 loss.
Syracuse
91 of 120Opponent: at USC
In the second week of the season, Syracuse takes on USC on the road and the kickoff is already scheduled for 8 p.m. Not only will the Orange have to deal with the talent that is on the field but they will have to fight the elements as the Trojan crowd should be fired up for a night game.
TCU
92 of 120Opponent: at Wyoming
Like other teams, the most dangerous game to go into is the one right before a big showdown. In the week following the Wyoming, TCU will be taking on Boise State which makes overlooking the Cowboys extremely easy.
Temple
93 of 120Opponent: Penn State
Last year Temple went on the road and kept things tight with Penn State. In 2011, the Owls will be at home for this game and it would be devastating for them to be able to keep it close again only to come up empty.
Tennessee
94 of 120Opponent: LSU
Last year, Tennessee had the Tigers beat but a penalty gave LSU another shot that they capitalized on. This year, the two teams will meet up again and Tennessee better bring their A game because LSU will not want another close call like last year.
Texas
95 of 120Opponent: at UCLA
Last years downward spiral got started with a loss to UCLA and this year, the Longhorns head on the road in the third week of the season for a rematch. Texas is hoping to get back on track and a victory here could go a long way towards that goal.
Texas A&M
96 of 120Opponent: at Oklahoma
Texas A&M knows that last year they got a leg up on the Sooners with a home victory and this year Oklahoma will be more then ready to return the favor. Behind Landry Jones and the Sooners offense, Oklahoma will look to gain their revenge in 2011.
Texas Tech
97 of 120Opponent: at Oklahoma
In 2010, Texas Tech got waxed by the Sooners 45-7, this year they have to head to Norman towards the end of October. If the Red Raiders thought last year was bad, this could be even worse.
Toledo
98 of 120Opponent: at Ohio State
This is another situation of one game costing you two. Toledo goes up against the Buckeyes in the second week of the season and will use enough effort to have little left for Boise State in week three.
Troy
99 of 120Opponent: at Arkansas
After an opening game at Clemson, things do not get easier for Troy as they take on Arkansas on the road. For a team looking to go back to another bowl game this year, gaining confidence from one of these early games could be huge.
Tulane
100 of 120Opponent: at Duke
Should Duke be a tough game for Tulane? No. The point is that Tulane cannot afford to look past them and drop an easy game on the road.
Tulsa
101 of 120Opponent: at Oklahoma
There may be no worse game to start with for a program like Tulsa. When going up against Oklahoma in Norman, it rarely will give you an opportunity to see how you have developed in the offseason due to the talent on the other side of the line.
UAB
102 of 120Opponent: at Florida
A lot of the smaller and less known programs have to fight for exposure and one way they do that is by agreeing to take on bigger programs on the road.
UAB has to go down this road when they take on Florida to open the season.
UCF
103 of 120Opponent: at BYU
A game against BYU starts a tough stretch for UCF and like the case with other teams, you want to earn that first victory in hopes that it sets the tone for the remainder of the games.
UCLA
104 of 120Opponent: at Houston
Much like Dennis Erickson, Rick Neuheisel knows that he must get off to a fast start in 2011. In the opening week of the season, UCLA will take on Houston, who will have Case Keenum back. If Keenum is truly healthy, this will be a bad start to the year for Neuheisel.
UNLV
105 of 120Opponent: at Wisconsin
Starting your season at Camp Randall against Wisconsin will not draw the envy of other teams. After a rough 2010, 2011 is certain to pick right up where last season left off.
USC
106 of 120Opponent: at Oregon
Two factors will have the Trojans concerned entering this game. First is the fact that it has been a while since the Trojans have earned a victory in the state of Oregon. Secondly, the Ducks have down an excellent job putting up big numbers against them the past two years and this season should be no different.
Utah
107 of 120Opponent: at USC
Utah officially makes their move to the Pac-12 this year and it does not take long for them to get into conference play. In the second week of the season, Utah heads to Southern Cal to take on USC and has an opportunity to make a statement to the conference and nation.
Utah State
108 of 120Opponent: at Auburn
Last year, everyone saw how dynamic the Auburn offense was with Cam Newton running the show. As the 2011 season begins without him, it will be interesting to see how the Auburn offense goes forward. This is a bad matchup for Utah State and has the element of the unknown to it.
UTEP
109 of 120Opponent: at South Florida
While South Florida is not Florida or Florida State, they are a solid team that UTEP can gauge themselves against. This will be an opportunity for the program to see where they are at. The downside to that is you may find out that you are going nowhere fast.
Vanderbilt
110 of 120Opponent: at Alabama
Last year Vanderbilt did not have to take on Alabama but in 2011, they will have to head on the road to take on the Crimson Tide. About midway through this game, Commodore fans will be wishing they didn't have them on the schedule again.
Virginia
111 of 120Opponent: at Florida State
While not a whole lot is expected out of Virginia in 2011, things could hit a low late in the year when they take a trip to play Florida State. The Seminoles will likely still be in the hunt for not only a conference title but maybe a trip to the national title.
Virginia Tech
112 of 120Opponent: Appalachian State
Above anything else, Virginia Tech cannot afford to slip against Appalachian State. Last year, the Hokies looked past James Madison and were upset. If the same things happens again this year, major changes could be made.
Wake Forest
113 of 120Opponent: Florida State
In early October, Wake Forest will get a huge home test against Florida State. If last years 31-0 loss is any indication of what is to come, Wake Forest will be in trouble.
Washington
114 of 120Opponent: at Nebraska
Last year, Nebraska and Washington split the two games they played against each other, including the Holiday Bowl.
This year, the Huskies have to head to Lincoln in the third week of the season and will face a Husker team eager to put last year's bowl performance behind them.
Washington State
115 of 120Opponent: at Oregon
For Washington State fans, a lot of weeks have the ability to be scary but this team is improving and it showed in 2010. Despite the improvements, when Washington State heads to Autzen Stadium to play Oregon, they will be in for a long afternoon.
West Virginia
116 of 120Opponent: vs LSU
While the Mountaineers did keep things close on the road against LSU last year, the Tigers have their eyes set on the national title game and this will not be a game that slows them down. The overall depth and talent on the lines will help LSU earn a big out of conference victory.
Western Kentucky
117 of 120Opponent: at LSU
After only putting together three wins in 2010, Western Kentucky does not appear to be making any steps forward in 2011. Things could get real ugly as they head to LSU in November.
Western Michigan
118 of 120Opponent: Nicholls State
In the first week of the season, Western Michigan heads to Ann Arbor to play Michigan and in the third week of the season they take on rival Central Michigan. Packed in between those two games is one against Nicholls State, an opponent that should beat.
Wisconsin
119 of 120Opponent: at Michigan State
Last year, Michigan State sneaked up on Wisconsin and earned a huge conference victory. This year, Wisconsin has the talent and depth to not only be a conference title contender but also a national title contender.
In order for those two things to happen, they must be sharp when they head to East Lansing.
Wyoming
120 of 120Opponent: Nebraska
Last year was not a great one for Wyoming. Only winning three games was bad news last year but the worse news is three wins might be tougher in 2011.
In late September, Wyoming will be taking on Nebraska and likely hitting rock bottom for their season.
