Georgia Football: Top 3 Bowl Wins Under Mark Richt

In his ten years in Athens, Mark Richt has coached the Bulldogs to six top 10 finishes.Ā 

A key to his success has been the Dawgs' performance in bowl games. Posting a strong 7-3 record in the postseason, Richt is poised to crack the top five in all-time bowl victories.

Let's take a look back at the Dawgs' three biggest bowl wins under Coach Richt.

3. 2006 Chick-Fil-a Bowl

Virginia Tech: 24

Trailing 21-3 at half time, Mark Richt led his Bulldogs on a furious comeback to knock off Frank Beamer and the Hokies.

2. 2008 Sugar Bowl

UGA: 41
Hawaii: 10

There were many experts who thought Hawaii would give the Dawgs a run for their money in the 2008 Sugar Bowl.

They could not have been more wrong.

The Dawgs stormed into New Orleans and throttled the Warriors.

3. 2003 Sugar Bowl

Florida State: 13

In Georgia's first Sugar Bowl in 20 years, Richt led the Dawgs to a victory over his former mentor, Bobby Bowden.

The Dawgs finished with a 13-1 record, and were ranked third in both the AP and Coaches final polls.
