College Football 2011: No. 5 QB Trevor Knight Bolts Texas A&M for Oklahoma
The Oklahoma Sooners were in need of a quarterback for their 2012 recruiting class, and they picked the pocket of Big 12 rival Texas A&M to secure a commitment fromĀ Trevor KnightĀ (San Antonio, Texas) Wednesday afternoon.
NewsOK.com reported the four-star dual-threat quarterbackĀ announced the switchĀ via Facebook.Ā
"On one of the toughest days of my life with the passing of my grandpa, the light shines through in honor of him," Knight posted, "and I have committed to play football For the University of Oklahoma! BOOMER SOONER!"
Knight is the No. 5 dual-threat quarterback and No. 228 overall prospect, according to Rivals.com, and had been committed to Texas A&M since March 3.Ā
The Reagan High School star has a twin brother,Ā Connor Knight, who plays tight end and handles the long snapping duties. Connor also switched his commitment to Oklahoma and will likely be a walk-on for the Sooners.
Trevor is listed at 6'2", 190 pounds and is the 11th commitment in Oklahoma's 2012 recruiting class, which now contains seven four-star prospects.
This likely means Oklahoma does not expect to receive a commitment from No. 1 pro-style QB Gunner KielĀ (Columbus, Ind.), who was expected to commit to the Sooners in June, but delayed his decision and has been leaning toward committing to Indiana or Alabama as of late.
