College Football Recruiting 2012: 5 Recruits and Schools That Are Perfect Fits

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

"Perfect fit" is a term used a lot and by many people these days. For this read, I'm going to give you five players and the schools that are perfect fits for them. Some may have already committed to these schools, while others are still on the board.

Whether it be from a schematic standpoint on the field or because the recruit is just the epitome and embodiment of what the program stands for, this should be a fun list to check out.

Let's get started.

5. Dan Voltz, OG: Wisconsin

1 of 5

Voltz is headed to Wisconsin, and that's my pick for him. What better school for a 6'4", 290-pound OG who loves to mix it up, get nasty in the run game and maul defenders down after down?

The amount of importance emphasized on the run game at Camp Randall is very, very high, and the Badgers put a heavy amount of stock into their offensive front.

Wisconsin and Voltz are a perfect match.

4. Barry Sanders Jr., RB: Oklahoma State

2 of 5

With offers from the likes of Alabama and Auburn among a slew of others, I actually think Sanders Jr. and Oklahoma State would be a perfect match.

Just from a nostalgia standpoint of seeing a Barry Sanders tote the rock in Stillwater again would be a sight to see.

Tossing in the notion that the younger Sanders has a quick and shifty running style reminiscent of his father only adds to my point.

3. Gunner Kiel, QB: Oklahoma

3 of 5

Kiel is a high school QB from Indiana who just so happens to be considered by many as the No. 1 QB in the country. His tape shows a 6'4", 200-pound QB in total command of his offense, a great decision-maker and a strong-armed passer with accuracy.

He reportedly runs a spread offense that has very similar pass concepts to the passing game portion of the offense ran by Oklahoma.

This would be a perfect fit for Kiel, as he essentially would go to a system very similar to the one he's almost mastered in high school.

2. Johnathan Gray, RB: Texas

4 of 5

Gray is a 5'11", 195-pound natural at running back. Really, he looks natural playing, and I think he has a long career ahead of him should he stay healthy.

He's a RB. From Texas.

He seems to be almost preordained to run in Austin and be the next in line as a great Texas RB. Only thing is he'll share the spotlight with Malcolm Brown for most of his stay.

1. Reggie Ragland, LB: Alabama

5 of 5

A 6'4", 245-pound sheer force in the middle, Ragland is a double perfect match for his school of choice, and that is why I have him at No. 1.

Alabama runs the 3-4 defense, most of the time I'll say, and Ragland is a perfect fit as a 3-4 ILB. He's not a rangy, sideline-to-sideline chase 'backer, but rather a downhill, point-of-attack, run-stuffing 'backer—which matches the ILB spot in the 3-4.

Toss in the fact that he fits the mold of a Dont'a Hightower, Nico Johnson or Rolando McClain type, who all went to Alabama, and you easily see Ragland is next in line.
