Ohio State Recruiting: Bri'onte Dunn and Top 5 Recruits of 2012 Class so Far
The 2012 Ohio State football recruiting class is sure to take a hit with all of the uncertainty surrounding the University, but it's only July and the Buckeyes have a solid class given the circumstances—led by running back Bri'onte Dunn.
According to Scout.com, Ohio State has five 3-star recruits, two 4-star recruits and one 5-star committed for the 2012 class. These are not the best numbers Ohio State has seen for recruiting this time of year, but it could be a lot worse.
It's time to focus on the top five guys that have chosen to be part of Buckeye Nation as of July 1st.
5. WR Frank Epitropoulos
1 of 5Frank Epitropoulos is an interesting commit for the Buckeyes. His 6'3'' frame is ideal for receiver, and his 40-inch vertical makes him that much more of a threat.
Epitropoulos lacks elite speed, but he should be a good possession-type receiver and a great red-zone target.
It will be interesting to see how the Buckeye coaches elect to use Epitropoulos in the future, as he could play safety on defense as well.
4. OLB Joshua Perry
2 of 5Joshua Perry is a great looking athlete who could lineup at a few different positions on the defenisve side of the ball—and he boasts an impressive 3.8 GPA.
Perry (6'3'' and 225 pounds) has great lateral speed and will have no problem chasing down running backs, or blitzing off the outside and getting to the quarterback.
3. RB Warren Ball
3 of 5Despite all of the Tressel-gate drama, it looks like Ohio State is going to come out with two standout running backs with their 2012 recruiting class.
Warren Ball could easily be a 5-star recruit by the end of his senior season at St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus Ohio.
Ball has been a Buckeye guy his entire life, and with great athleticism and a good frame (6'2'' 205 pounds), Dunn will have a chance to make his own mark as a Buckeye in a couple of years.
2. S Devan Bogard
4 of 5Devan Bogard has kept the Glenville High School pipeline alive for the Buckeyes, as Ohio State has received at least one commitment from Glenville since 2002.
Bogard is an athletic safety who also plays linebacker in high school, though he will be a full-time safety for the Buckeyes.
Bogard looks to be yet another standout safety for the Buckeyes, who have become accustomed to elite safety play the last few seasons.
1. RB Bri'onte Dunn
5 of 5Bri'onte Dunn is easily the most anticipated recruit coming in for the Buckeyes in 2012.
At 6'1'' and 225 pounds, Dunn is a powerful runner who possesses the ability to be an every-down premier back for the Buckeyes in the future.
Dunn rushed for over 2,000 yards as a junior at Glen Oak High School in Canton Ohio, while accounting for 22 touchdowns.
The Beanie Wells comparisons are well deserved, as Dunn looks like a Heisman-type running back for the Buckeyes.
