Predicting Pac-12 Football: Which Teams Win in Week 2?

0 of 11

    Pac-12 Week Two Games:

This second week of P-12 predictions is a follow-on to the Week 1 predictions

National spotlight football game: Arizona at Oklahoma State.

Close P-12 Week 2 games: Cal at Colorado; Washington at Hawaii; Mizzo at Arizona St.

Most important matchup affecting P-12 standings: Utah at USC.

Note: The New Mexico Bowl will add the Pac-12's seventh-place finisher in 2012.

Arizona at Oklahoma State

1 of 11

    Arizona at Oklahoma State

    Thursday, September 8, 2011

    5:00 PM (PST) on ESPN

    Game Prediction:

    Oklahoma State 24 - Arizona 17

Less than a year ago, Brandon Weeden threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns to defeat Arizona 36-10 in the Alamo Bowl. This will be a repeat of last year's Alamo Bowl loss for Arizona. The Cowboys will be ranked about 15th in the nation when Arizona visits. Arizona should be ranked about 35th. Nick Foles and Juron Criner will do their damage, but the Cowboys win on ESPN. Don't expect the Wildcats to go down easily. This will be a great Thursday night game.

Missouri at Arizona State

    Missouri at Arizona State

    Friday, September 9, 2011

    7:30 PM (PST) on ESPN

    Game Prediction:

    Missouri 21 - Arizona State 20

#23 Arizona State hosts the Missouri Tigers who were 10-3 last year. The #17 Tigers return just about everyone (16 starters) on their multiple spread offense and 4-3 defense. The Tiger's defensive line and linebackers will be a strength. For the most part, Missouri will just plug in the next star quarterback and the Tigers will challenge for the Big 12 title. This will be a very close game, but the Tigers win this one shown on ESPN. A great Friday night match-up.

Nevada at Oregon

3 of 11

    Nevada at Oregon

    Saturday, September 10, 2011

12:30 p.m. (PST) on Fox Extended

    Game Prediction:

    Oregon 55 - Nevada 10

This is not the same Nevada team that went 13-1 last year. This isn't the same Oregon team that went 12-1 last year. But this Oregon team is much better than this Nevada team. Oregon rebounds from a hard-fought loss to LSU and wins this one by a bunch. Coach Chip Kelly will make this a statement game at Nevada's expense, but how did the Ducks end up scheduled on FX TV?

Stanford at Duke

    Stanford at Duke

    Saturday, September 10, 2011

    12:30 PM (PST) on ESPNU

    Game Prediction:

    Stanford 42 - Duke 9

Last year, Tyrod Taylor (VT) beat Duke 44-7. Greg McElroy (AL) thumped Duke 62-13 in 2010. The Duke Blue Devils lose six starters on defense and that is going to show when they play a Cardinal team who may be ranked in the top ten. Stanford was 12-1 last year while Duke was 3-9. Stanford wins big on ESPNU and Andrew Luck hits targets other than his tight ends all night long.

Utah at USC

5 of 11

    Utah at USC

    Saturday, September 10, 2011

    4:30 PM (PST) on Versus

    Game Prediction:

    USC 42 - Utah 17

Utah gets their introduction to playing in the Pac-12 conference with a spanking. No more easy schedules for Utah who played a half dozen teams who average 2.5 wins last year. Utah's played six opponents last season who had a combined record of 15-59. Their Pac-12 schedule will be much more difficult. USC wins easily on Versus TV.

California at Colorado

6 of 11

    California at Colorado

    Saturday, September 10, 2011

    TBD p.m. (PST) on TBA

    Game Prediction:

    California 38 – Colorado 24

These two Pac-12 teams are playing a non-league game. Yes, that is right; this game does not count for in-conference rankings. These two teams did meet in Berkeley last season resulting in a 52-7 victory for the Cal Bears. Playing in Boulder will be an advantage for the Buffaloes, but Cal still wins. But it won't be by 45 points.

Hawaii at Washington

7 of 11

    Hawaii at Washington

    Saturday, September 10, 2011

    TBD p.m. (PST) on TBD

    Game Prediction:

    Washington 24 - Hawaii 21

Hawaii should be coming off a win against Colorado at home. The last time they met, Washington was a close victory at home in 2007. Now, they are the team on the road to a Washington team who finished 7-6 last year. The Huskies pull out the victory but the Warriors quarterback play will look much better than Washington's. Polk wins this one for Washington.

Oregon State at Wisconsin

8 of 11

    Oregon State at Wisconsin

    Saturday, September 10, 2011

    TBD p.m. (PST) on TBD

    Game Prediction:

    Wisconsin 38 - Oregon State 17

Wisconsin went 11-2 last year while Oregon State struggled at 5-7. The Beavers' losses to the NFL will hurt them much more than Badgers' losses. Wisconsin, who may come into the season ranked number 21 in the AP Poll, wins by 21.

San Jose State at UCLA

9 of 11

    San Jose State at UCLA

    Saturday, September 10, 2011

    TBD PM (PST) on TBD

    Game Prediction:

    UCLA 38 - San Jose State 10

Of 120 FBS teams, San Jose State is ranked near dead last. The Spartans finished 1-12 last year and 2011 should be about the same. After opening at Stanford, San Jose State travels to Pasadena to play UCLA who only finished 4-8 in 2010. The Bruins win.

UNLV at Washington State

10 of 11

    UNLV at Washington State

    Saturday, September 10, 2011

    TBD PM (PST) on TBD

    Game Prediction:

    Washington State 31 - UNLV 24

UNLV actually travels to Seattle to play Washington State. The Rebels finished 2-11 last year, which is the same amount of wins Washington State accomplished in 2010. The Cougars faced a much tougher schedule last year than the Rebels, and Washington State walks away with the win in Seattle.
