Karma is Biting the Michigan Wolverines

Jason BarczyCorrespondent IOctober 16, 2008

Who else remembers the play from the pic above? Fantastic stuff. There are a hundred more pics like that I could pull up and against all kinds of teams.

What's the point, you ask?

Well, Michigan has been beating up on teams like Penn State, Illinois, and the rest of the Big Ten for a long time, and now Michigan is getting it back in return this season.

I hope some of you out there watch the show "My Name is Earl" and understand what karma is, because it's come back to ruin a season of Michigan football.

Think about it, folks.

Michigan has won nine straight against Penn State and haven't lost in Happy Valley since 1995. Illinois hadn't beaten the Wolverines since 1999; Michigan State has a six-game losing streak against Michigan; and so on.

These teams are due, and they're getting it.

Even the MAC was due to finally get a win in the Big House after 24 straight losses, and it just happened to be Toledo.

If Michigan played Indiana this year, I would definitely put money on the Hoosiers, seeing how it's been 21 years since their last victory.

Minnesota has one win since 1986; Northwestern has three in 48 years; Purdue has two in 28 years.

Michigan has dominated these teams. They even dominated Ohio State in the '90s, and look at what the Buckeyes have done to us this decade.

If we lose all the rest of our games this season but beat them in Columbus, I'll be happier than I have ever been in my life.

So everyone just relax and take a big deep breath and just accept that Michigan is not going to a bowl game, nor will the Wolverines have a winning record.

All streaks come to an end sometime or another, and I'd rather trade the chance of going to a mediocre December bowl game for the chance to be a national championship contender by 2010.

Have any of you seen some of the stuff floating around the internet? It's crazy.

I saw something about an Adidas curse. Come on now, that is just ridiculous. Someone on here went to great lengths to research the Munchhausen syndrome and applied it to Michigan fans believing in Rich Rodriguez.

And don't get me started on the "fire RichRod" websites that are popping up. Those people are the lowest of the low.

I know that we live in a society of instant gratification, but we all need to come to grips with the fact that karma is biting Michigan this year.

I say let it bite. Let Penn State, Michigan State, and whoever else get their licks in now while they can, because the Wolverines will bounce back and their bite will be worse than before.

Rich Rodriguez will unleash a full arsenal of plays that no one has ever seen from a spread formation, and his wrath will be felt by all who stand in his way.

The Michigan defense will be feared once again, and the sight of the winged helmets will send shivers down opponents' spines.

Patience is a virtue, and Bo Schembechler knew that better than anyone when he posted the sign in the Michigan locker room that says "Those Who Stay Will Be Champions."

A lot of Michigan fans need to remember that saying. Those who refuse and keep calling for RichRod's head need not apply for reservations to get back on the Michigan bandwagon.

Scroll back up the page and look at that picture again. It will be an image that we will see again: one of pure Michigan domination.

"Those Who Stay Will Be Champions."
