Florida Football: Gator Fans, You Have Officially Replaced Miami As 'Thug U(F)'

Bleacher ReportApr 27, 2011

I was browsing the Internet last night and came across an article stating that the Florida Gators dismissed Janoris Jenkins from the football team due to multiple marijuana charges.

The article was fine, but reading the comments from the article made me a little sick.

Do the media and fans still believe that Miami is a dirty program?

Especially you Gator fans.

Do you really want to call Miami "Thug U", while your program had over 30 arrests during Urban Meyer's five year tenure as coach?

Jenkins isn't the only problem in Gainesville these days, for the third straight year at the NFL Combine, an Ex-Gator has tested positive for marijuana.

Apparently new coach, Will Muschamp, is trying to clean up the program, much like Butch Davis did in Miami.

Muschamp has clearly sent a message that the arrests and problems happening in Gainesville will not be tolerated.

Miami, on the other hand, has been relatively out of the news for any off the field issues.

Ramon Buchanan was arrested last month and he is believed to be the first Hurricane to be arrested since Robert Marve was arrested in 2007.

Don't get me wrong, there are other teams out there that are going through multiple infractions as well.

Ohio State has big problems right now, most SEC schools are going though legal issues, and everyone knows about North Carolina's problems last year.

No matter how many times those other schools run into some serious problems, it always seems to come back to Miami being Thug U.

It doesn't make sense, people really need to look at statistics and realize that Thug U is dead and gone in Miami.

Don't worry though, it's still alive and well in Gainesville, just 320 miles north of Miami.
