Alabama Football: Saban and the Tide Looking at Another Legacy in Tuscaloosa

Chris Samuels was one of the best tackles in recent years at Alabama.

He was drafted in the first round to the NFL in 2000 and played for nine years at the top of his game before an injury forced him to opt for early retirement.

Now he's decided to try and enter the coaching world, and many think that his nephew could be coached up to be a force on the offensive line himself.

That young man is Kyron Samuels, a 6'2'', 285-pound guard from Fairhope High School, right in the middle of the Mobile area that Saban has mined for so much talent.

But Saban and his high school coach both see Kyron as a center instead of a guard, so he will be making the move to that position this season in high school.

Samuels not only grew up an Alabama fan, but also someone who simply fell in love with with Tuscaloosa as well.

This is a kid who Saban isn't going to have to sell on coming here. Instead, he's simply waiting for the offer.

But the Alabama coaching staff is wanting to wait and see how he adjusts to the center position this summer when Samuels will attend camp at Alabama's football clinic.

He has, however, already received some offers from mid-level schools like FIU, Southern Miss, UAB and others, but he is getting noticed by almost all the SEC schools and Florida State, as well as Oregon.

Keith Neibuhr of Rivals says that after talking to him, he feels he has the intelligence to run the offensive line with good blocking calls and that this move should go smoothly. He says that once Samuels shows what he is capable of at center, the offers from all the big schools will come pouring in.

Kyron Samuels and Charles Carter, a fellow offensive lineman at Fairhope, have been invited to play in the 2011 Max Emfinger All-American Bowl Classic Dec. 31 at Doug Williams Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.

Samuels is the only center of interest right now for the 2012 recruiting class, although that could change.
