Auburn University Toomer's Corner Trees Poisoned: When Sports Go Too Far

Nathan DealCorrespondent IFebruary 16, 2011

We thought the Iron Bowl was heated before.

We knew Auburn had no respect for Alabama, and that Alabama had no respect for Auburn.

However, Auburn's hate for Alabama reached an all-time high on Wednesday, February 15, 2011.

An angry, disgruntled, and probably insane Alabama fan poisoned the famous oak trees at Toomer's Corner on the campus of Auburn University with a lethal amount of herbicide used often to kill trees.

Auburn officials said the trees are unlikely to survive.

However, the moron did not stop there. This inept piece of scum actually called in to the infamous "Paul Finebaum Show" to brag about poisoning the trees earlier on January 27th.

This person is so stupid, that when he gets arrested after the police track his calls, he's going to wonder how he didn't get away with it.

Auburn president Jay Gouge requested that Auburn fans remain upbeat and continue to be "all in."

The official website for Toomer's Corner, including a live webcam, appears to be down right now.

Do you know what I would do if I were to be the one ruling on the punishment for this moron?

I would order him to be chained to a sign at Toomer's Corner all day and all night, and not be let go until the new trees have reached a height of respectable rolling.

Sure, the old trees were 130 years old, so there is no doubt this guy would die before the trees grew back. But my ruling does what he apparently did: throw caution to the wind and not think about how it affects others.

Alabama's offseason motto is "NEVER LOSE TO AUBURN AGAIN". Alabama...this is the worst possible way to start working on that goal.

Don't think Auburn fans will have forgotten come November. Don't worry, Toomer's may not be appropriate for rolling. So after Auburn wins the Iron Bowl, we'll just come up to Alabama and roll your trees. All of them.
