Almost every team in college football has a rivalry with another team.  The best of these rivalries, with a few exceptions (Ohio State-Michigan, Oklahoma-Nebraska), have trophies and not all of them are just big shiny cups.  This is a look at some of college football's best rivalry trophies.

Honorable Mention

There are a lot of teams that just missed the cut.  Here are a few of them.

    Illibuck- Ohio State Vs Illinois

    Victory Bell- USC Vs UCLA

Indian War Drum- Kansas Vs Missouri

Megaphone Trophy- Michigan State Vs Notre Dame

Name of Trophy: Lone Star Showdown Trophy

    Record: 75-37-5 Texas

In Texas, most people are either Aggies or Longhorns.  Period.  It's as black and white as that.  Needless to say, this is a big game.  In order to receive the trophy, the team must win a majority of the sports they play against each other, including track, volleyball, and basketball.

No. 9: Michigan Vs Michigan State

ANN ARBOR, MI - OCTOBER 09: Mark Dell #2 of the Michigan State Spartans catches a 41 yard pass during the second quarter as Terrence Talbott #22 and Courtney Avery #5 of the Michigan Wolverines make the stop during the game on October 9, 2010 at Michigan

    Name of Rivalry: None

Name of Trophy: Paul Bunyan Trophy

    Record: 34-22-2 Michigan

In recent history, little brother, Michigan State, has had Michigan's number, winning the last three.  Michigan controls the overall series, however.  The trophy is named after the mythical logger, Paul Bunyan.

No. 8: Army Vs Navy

WASHINGTON - MAY 03: U.S. President Barack Obama (R) speaks as he hosts members of the Navy football team Midshipmen during the presentation ceremony of the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy at the East Room of the White House May 3, 2010 in Washington, DC. Th

    Name of Rivalry: Army-Navy Game

    Name of Trophy: Commander-In-Chief's Trophy

    Record: 55-49-7 Navy

While Air Force also can win the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy, its rivalries with Army and Navy aren't as prestigious as the Army-Navy Game.  Navy has had Army's number for the last few years.

No. 7: Arkansas Vs LSU

5 of 11

BATON ROUGE, LA - NOVEMBER 28: Members of the LSU Tigers celebrate with 'The Boot' trophy after defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks 33-30 in overtime at Tiger Stadium on November 28, 2009 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. (Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images)

    Name of Rivalry: Arkansas-LSU Game

    Name of Trophy: Golden Boot

    Record: 34-20-2 LSU

Arkansas has been more competitive in recent history, but LSU still holds the lead.  The trophy is actually the states of Arkansas and Louisiana, but resembles a boot.

No. 6: Oregon Vs Oregon State

CORVALLIS, OR - DECEMBER 04: LaMichael James #21 of the Oregon Ducks runs te ball against the Oregon State Beavers during the 114th Civil War on December 4, 2010 at the Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon. (Photo by Jonathan Ferrey/Getty Images)

    Name of Rivalry: Civil War

    Name of Trophy: Platypus Trophy

    Record: 58-46-10 Oregon

This game always has Pac-10 title implications.  Two years ago, the winner of this game would win the conference and play in the Rose Bowl.  Oregon went on to win that game and got beat by Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.  The trophy was lost for quite a while, but was brought back to the rivalry in 2007.

No. 5: Nebraska Vs Missouri

7 of 11

LINCOLN, NE - OCTOBER 30: Running back Roy Helu Jr. #10 of the Nebraska Cornhuskers break a long run against the Missouri Tigers during second half action of their game at Memorial Stadium on October 30, 2010 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Defeated Missou

    Name of Rivalry: None

    Name of Trophy: Victory Bell

    Record: 65-36-3 Nebraska

This game was one of the oldest in the Big XII, but it ended in 2010 due to Nebraska's move to the Big Ten.  In the last game of this rivalry, Roy Helu Jr. broke the Nebraska rushing record in a game by putting up over 300 yards.  The bell was stolen from a church in Nebraska by a Nebraska fraternity.  Eventually, it became the rivalry's trophy.

No. 4: Stanford Vs California

8 of 11

BERKELEY, CA - NOVEMBER 20: The Stanford Cardinal celebrate with 'The Axe' after beating the California Golden Bears at California Memorial Stadium on November 20, 2010 in Berkeley, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

Name of Rivalry: The Big Game

    Name of Trophy: Stanford Axe

     Record: 56-46-11 Stanford

This rivalry has seen some of the craziest plays in college football history.  The most memorable would be "The Play," in which Cal used five laterals to get down field and then had to dodge the Stanford band on its way to a touchdown. The axe is full of history.  It was used for cutting heads off of Cal dummies during football and baseball games, but Stanford thought it might be jinxed.  It was stolen during a baseball game and the handle was broken off.  There was a police chase, but the axe ended up in Cal.  Some Stanford fans stole it back during a rally and afterward, it was decided that it would be the trophy of the Big Game.

No. 3: Oklahoma Vs Texas

9 of 11

DALLAS - OCTOBER 02: Linebacker Travis Lewis #28 of the Oklahoma Sooners wears the Golden Hat trophy after a 28-20 win against the Texas Longhorns at the Cotton Bowl on October 2, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

Name of Rivalry: Red River Shootout

    Name of Trophy: Golden Hat

    Record: 59-41-5 Texas

This game is what used to decide who would represent the South in the Big XII Championship.  Now it's just one of the biggest rivalries in the country.  The Golden Hat actually was bronze, but was polished and later renamed.

No. 2: Notre Dame Vs USC

10 of 11

LOS ANGELES, CA - NOVEMBER 27: Wide receiver Ronald Johsnon #83 of the USC Trojans carries the ball against cornerback Robert Blanton #12 of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on November 27, 2010 in Los Angeles, Californi

    Name of Rivalry: None

    Name of Trophy: Jeweled Shillelagh

    Record: 43-33-5 Notre Dame

This rivalry has seen many storied matchups, as two of the game's most storied programs face off against each other.  The trophy is covered in jewels, emeralds for Notre Dame victories and rubies for USC victories.

No. 1: Alabama Vs Auburn

11 of 11

TUSCALOOSA, AL - NOVEMBER 26: Julio Jones #8 of the Alabama Crimson Tide is tackled by Neiko Thorpe #15 and Eltoro Freeman #21 of the Auburn Tigers at Bryant-Denny Stadium on November 26, 2010 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)
    Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images

    Name of Rivalry: Iron Bowl

Name of Trophy: James E. Foy, V-ODK Sportsmanship Trophy

    Record: 40-34-1 Alabama

In recent history, this game has decided who would go on to the conference championship game.  Auburn had a six game winning streak in the series, but it was broken in 2008.  The trophy was created to represent that the two schools were still friendly, despite the hostile rivalry.
