USC Football Recruiting: 4-Star OL Cyrus Hobbi Commits To Trojans

Four-star offensive lineman Cyrus Hobbi committed to the USC Trojans today over the ASU Sun Devils and UCLA Bruins.  Hobbi was a silent commit to ASU and he is from Scottsdale, AZ.

He was very impressive at his press conference at 12pm PST today.  Hobbi said that he will play any position that USC wants, but he was recruited for guard or center.

One of the reasons that Hobbi gave for selecting USC is the drama department because he wants to be an actor.  Hobbi certainly is intelligent and spoke very well at his press conference.

"It's just a great school," said Hobbi. "One of the big things I'm looking forward to is getting a degree from the University of Southern California. Its a pretty impressive deal."

Hobbi added, ``USC without a doubt, was above those other schools.  I couldn't be happier with my decision. I'm excited to get out there and get this ball rolling. They are loading up on talent.''

Hobbi has the size, build and technique to get good playing time in 2011.  According to ESPN, he is the nation's top guard prospect, and both Rivals and Scout have him in the top five.

Hobbi earned First-Team All-State (4A), First-Team All-Region and First-Team All-City as a junior and senior for Saguaro High. He power cleans 280-pounds, bench presses more than 400-pounds and squats 500-pounds. He has a 31-inch vertical leap, which shows his explosiveness off the ball.

Now all USC needs is a few more OL, such as the following, to position the Trojans for not only a great recruiting class, but filling their roster needs:

Troy Niklas, 4-star, 6’7”/243, Anaheim, CA

Aundrey Walker, 4-star, 6’5”/355, Cleveland, OH

Torian White, 3-star, 6’6”/275, Lakewood, CA, (UCLA soft commit)

Things are looking very good for USC, and the coaching staff has done a remarkable job.

As Hobbi said at the end of his press conference, "FIGHT ON."  He later added, "And all those other athletes and recruits thinking about being a Trojan, you should come here and join us. We're going to win some games."
