Isaiah Crowell: 10 Reasons He Shouldn't Choose Georgia On National Signing Day
Isaiah Crowell, the nation's top-ranked running back recruit, is reportedly down to his final schools.
While it's unclear as to when he will make his college announcement, it is known that Crowell is down to either Alabama, Auburn or Georgia.
The Georgia native took his official visit to Georgia this past weekend and all reports note that he enjoyed the visit.
With nearly the entire college football world waiting on his decision, Crowell will certainly be taking his time in making it and the right choice.
And, if he is interested in making the right choice, he would rule Georgia out right now as it's not the place for him.
View the 10 reasons Isaiah Crowell shouldn't go to Georgia:
Immediate Impact
1 of 10
Crowell is surely to jump on the field wherever he ends up.
But a player of his stature is more likely to make a star-studded impact on the biggest levels of college football. And at this point, Georgia just isn't there yet.
Looking at Crowell's other two options-Auburn and Alabama-he wouldn't get the type of immediate exposure he'd get at either one of those schools if he chooses Georgia.
Supporting Class
2 of 10
While Georgia's 2011 recruiting class isn't bad, time will only tell if it can compete with the classes Auburn and Alabama have put together.
Georgia is currently ranked No. 11 in ESPN.com's latest team rankings , which is below 9th-ranked Auburn and No. 3 Alabama.
Lack of Running Game
3 of 10
This may have been due to the personnel in the backfield, but I'd argue it's because of the style quarterback Aaron Murray is.
Either way you slice it, the Bulldogs don't run the ball with the type of consistency of Crowell's other suitors.
Georgia was led in rushing last year but Washaun Ealey, who ran for just 811 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Coaching Consistency
4 of 10
Mark Richt hasn't had the most success at the helm while at Georgia and it has remained a trouble for the Bulldogs to remain relevant in the SEC under his reign.
With Nick Saban at Alabama and Gene Chizik at Auburn serving as the last two National Championship coaches, it's no doubt that Crowell would be under better tutelage and have the chance to win a national championship if he chooses not to attend Georgia.
Coaching Turmoil
5 of 10
Given Mark Richt's lack of success at Georgia, it stands to reason that he may be out of a job if the Bulldogs don't turn things around next season.
Standing far behind South Carolina and Florida in the Eastern Division and well behind Auburn, LSU, Arkansas and Alabama in the Western Division, Georgia has plenty of work to do.
If they can't swing the tide, there may be a coaching change at Georgia and that is something no top recruit wants to endure.
Offensive Line Support
6 of 10
The success the Auburn offensive line had this season speaks for itself in the school's National Championship. Alabama, too, has a downright impressive offensive line that could only improve if top-ranked offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio chooses to go to Alabama.
All of that adds up to more support and better seams for Crowell.
Recruiting Backfiring
7 of 10
The Bulldogs tried to get a leg up on the competition last week when they offered a scholarship to Crowell's good friend and high school teammate Quintavious Harrow.
The move was seen by many as a ploy to get Crowell to commit to Georgia. Crowell's mother took exception to that thought and said she would, “not sell her son's soul to the devil.”
Trent Richardson
8 of 10
It has been reported that Crowell has developed a strong friendship with Alabama junior running back Trent Richardson.
While some could see Richardson's presence at Alabama as a bit of competition for Crowell, he could also look up to Richardson as a sort of mentor heading into his first season of SEC football.
Discipline
9 of 10
Amidst this past season's issues at Georgia, which included a 1-4, Crowell was quoted as saying some pointed things.
Upon one of his four visits to Alabama, Crowell mentioned to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that while he would see immediate playing time at Georgia, Alabama is a place that has discipline and the possibility of winning championships.
Defensive Minded
10 of 10
While Crowell will certainly lead the offense wherever he ends up, it may end up being the team's defense that wins a national championship.
And Alabama's 2011 recruiting class is full of top-flight defenders. Safety Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix, defensive end Xzavier Dickson and outside linebacker Trey DePriest have all committed and the Tide await word from Jadeveon Clowney.
