National Signing Day 2011: Arizona State's Top 10 Commitments For 2011
February 2, 2011 just seems like another normal Wednesday, but for the college football world, it is National Signing Day for recruits.
National Signing Day is the college football equivalent to Christmas morning. A day in which you find out what recruits, or gifts, will be heading to your program.
Arizona State is currently ranked No. 57 in recruiting points according to Scouts.com, but with an already talented roster that returns nearly all of its starters in 2011, the Sun Devils are sitting pretty.
With "way-too-early" preseason polls already spreading like wildfire, Arizona State is getting some love after finishing the 2010 season strong, and returning nearly the entire team that kept up with Top 10 programs.
Let's take a look at the Top 10 2011 recruiting commitments that Arizona State hopes to sign the first Wednesday of February.
Dillon Van Der Wal, TE
The 6'7", 240 pound tight end from Oaks Christian, California has made a soft verbal to Arizona State after showing no interest in other Pac-12 schools such as UCLA, USC, and Cal.
The Scout.com No.13 tight end recruit in the country still has visits planned to SEC schools, Vanderbilt and Arkansas later on in January.
Gionni Paul, OLB
The star linebacker from the state of Florida has verbally committed to Arizona State after offers from schools such as Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, Tech, Florida State, among others.
Rumors are that ASU's standout linebacker Vontaze Burfict helped seal the deal with bringing Gionni Paul to Tempe, AZ.
Michael Eubank, QB
Michael Eubank is a 6'5", 220 pound quarterback from the talent rich Centennial High School in Corona California.
Ranked as the No. 13 quarterback recruit in the nation, Eubank brings in the dual-threat approach to Arizona State after turning down Washington, Cincinnati, and rival school Arizona.
Michael Bercovici, QB
Although the 6'2", 205 pound quarterback from Woodland Hills, California lacks the prototypical size for his position, he is known for his consistency and accuracy in the recruiting world.
Bercovici has already signed his letter of intent with Arizona State.
Steward Butler, RB
Steward Butler has a stature of just 5'9" and 165 pounds, but in 2010 the running back broke into the Top three in Florida high school history for single season rushing yards with 3,043.
Butler gave Arizona State a verbal commitment after turning down offers from Marshall and West Virginia.
Israel Marshall, OLB/S
The standout from Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix, AZ chose to make a solid verbal commitment to Arizona State after receiving offers from Boise State, Arizona, and Colorado State.
In his senior year, he was named First-Team All-Region after recording 67 tackles, two interceptions, and two sacks during the 2010 season.
Matthew Ramondo, DT
Considered as the No. 2 overall recruit for the state of New Mexico, this 6'4", 285 pound defensive tackle has made a solid verbal commitment with Arizona State after receiving offers from Michigan State, Arizona, New Mexico, and New Mexico State.
1/20 Update: Matthew Ramondo has now committed to Michigan State.
Rashad Wadood, CB
The standout cornerback/running back from Lakewood High School in California has given ASU a soft verbal commitment.
Wadood is still showing medium interest in Colorado. Rashad also has interest in Miami (FL), he is set to visit them on January 21.
Devin Goodman, OG
The 6'2", 270 pound offensive guard from the recruiting grounds of Lakeland, Florida, made a solid verbal commitment to Arizona State back in September. He received just one other offer, from Marshall.
Sean O'Grady, DE
Known for his explosion and foot quickness, Sean O'Grady has made a solid verbal commitment to Arizona State over San Diego State, Washington State, and Colorado State.
The defensive end from California needs to add weight to his 6'3", 230 pound frame to play at the next level.
