Isaiah Crowell: Why He Should Go to Georgia

Bleacher ReportDec 28, 2010

Isaiah Crowell is the top-ranked running back in the country and remains undeclared.

Crowell had included on his list of considered schools Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Clemson and Florida State. But recent reports indicate that the 5-star recruit is set to choose between Georgia and Alabama.

I'm here to tell you that Crowell will enjoy a more successful college career if he chooses to play for the Bulldogs.

According to ESPN.com, Alabama has the second best recruiting class heading into national signing day. Yet Georgia is the place for Crowell.

Despite Alabama's higher-rated recruiting class, the Bulldogs offer spectacular support players if Crowell decides to attend Georgia—and the most spectacular could be quarterback Aaron Murray. As a freshman, the 6'1", 209-pound signal caller tossed for 2,851 yards and 24 touchdowns with a ridiculous 162.72 passer rating.

Simply put, Murray and Crowell could begin creating new memories for the Bulldogs as early as September.

The Carver High School star from Columbus, Georgia is also a legend in the state of Georgia. As is the case with any top-ranked recruit, Crowell has been followed religiously by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and his comment about announcing his college plans after his team won the state championship at the Georgia Dome sent recruiting fans and Georgia football fans into a frenzy.

At Georgia, Crowell would also jump right into the mix. With Mark Ingram's return to the Tide still unknown and sophomore Trent Richardson coming off a solid year, the Alabama backfield is crowded—to say the least. Georgia returns two running backs in Caleb King and Washaun Ealey, but neither provides the shadow cast by the possibility of a former Heisman Trophy winner returning.

With a similar build to Denver Broncos and former Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno, Crowell has a perfect template to look at when considering the next level for him and his career. Both running backs are a shade under six feet tall and check in at around 200 pounds. Knowing that a running back of similar build and characteristics succeeded at Georgia has to weigh heavily in Crowell's decision.

Looking at the facts and gazing a bit into the future, Georgia seems to be the perfect place for the country's top-ranked running back.
