Update: 1:15pm CST - Steve Gordon of the South Florida Sun Sentinel talked to a Miami official who told him, “We have some good names on [the list]’s not just two or three names, but it’s not a long list.”

Update: 11:30am CST - Thayer Evans, a senior writer for Fox Sports, says a source close to Jon Gruden told him there is a "zero percent" chance that he takes the Miami job.

Update: 11:21am CST - Steve Gorten, who covers the Hurricanes for the South Florida Sun Sentinel, reports that there is a team meeting scheduled for 3pm local time. Though there may not be anything to this meeting and it could be just a normal thing for the team, it comes during all of the Jon Gruden rumors.

Update: 11:10am CST - Michelle Kaufman with the Miami Herald, via Twitter, says there is no press conference scheduled for today from Miami and that there are other candidates being considered for the job. She also says that no offer has been made to Gruden.

Update: 10:26am CST - This story just keeps getting weirder. According to the Associated Press' Top 25 Twitter page, Donald Trump has apparently sent a letter to the University of Miami urging them to hire not Jon Gruden, but Mike Leach.

Update: 9:56am CST - Andy Slater from WFTL 640 AM in South Florida reports, via Twitter, that he spoke with Hank Greenberg who told him the meeting between Gruden and Miami is only gauge his interest in the job.

Update: 8:17am CST - There might be another candidate for the Miami job, but it's not a name that's coming from the university itself, but from the guy who's interested. That candidate is former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach.

Update: 7:17am CST - According to Michell Kaufman from the Miami Herald, Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt is scheduled to meet with Gruden some time this morning. She says there is no press conference scheduled as of yet.

Jon Gruden was said to be the next head coach of the Miami Hurricanes.

This was the rumor that was hot and heavy for days after the university fired head coach Randy Shannon. However,'s Peter King emphatically denied that this rumor was going to come to existence. In fact, Gruden himself released a statement denying it.

Well, sort of.

Now, the rumor seems to have caught fire again, as there is a report from Miami's site saying, "Final details are being hammered out and, barring a last-minute glitch, Jon Gruden will be the next Miami Hurricanes football coach."

Gruden has been a guy who a lot of teams would love to have, not only in the NFL, but apparently college as well.

There are more jobs than just Miami's open, as Colorado and Minnesota are also looking for their next head coach.

Whether you believe this rumor or not, we don't know that it's really a done deal until an official statement is released from either the university or from Gruden himself.

We'll update it as soon as anything becomes official.
