Bowl Projections: Which Conference Will Have The Most Berths, Wins?

    It has been a season for college football fans to remember.

    The upsets, the underdogs, and the triumphs have got everyone counting down the days until the bowl game madness begins. 

    With "Bowl Season" right around the corner, it's time for the nation to bust out their lucky pencils and start circling.

    Here's a look at the major conferences and the likely number of bowling participants from each one of those conferences.

Sun Belt With Two Berths, One Win

    Number of Berths: Two

    Bowling Teams: Florida International and Troy

    Game to Watch: Florida International is the team to watch here. After a slow start to the season, FIU has won 4 straight games on it's way to another bowl game.

    Miami (OH) def Troy in the GoDaddy.com Bowl

Pac-10 With Four Berths, One Win

    Bowling Teams: Arizona, Washington, Oregon, and Stanford

    Game to Watch: It looks like the Oregon Ducks are going to make their way into the National Championship game. With a tough match up against Cam Newton and the Auburn Tigers, the Ducks have their work cut out for them.

    Auburn def Oregon in the Tostidos BCS National Championship Game

    Oklahoma def Stanford in the Tostidos Fiesta Bowl

    Arizona def Nebraska in the Valero Alamo Bowl

WAC With Four Berths, Three Wins

    Bowling Teams: Boise State, Hawaii, Nevada, and Fresno State.

    Game to Watch: With a disappointing loss for the Boise State Broncos, their dreams of a BCS National Championship game have imploded. Expect Boise St. to be playing with a heavy chip on their shoulder as they demolish a mediocre ACC team in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.

    Here's the WAC outcome in this year's bowl games:

    Boise State def Miami (FL) in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.

    Hawaii def Tulsa in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

    Toledo def Nevada in the uDrove Humanitarian Bowl.

    Fresno State def Ohio in the New Mexico Bowl.

Big East With Six Berths, Two Wins

    Bowling Teams: Connecticut, Pittsburg, South Florida, West Virginia, Syracuse, Louisville

    Game to Watch: The UConn Huskies are the team to watch in the Big East. With a strong finish to the season, the Huskies can potentially find themselves in a BCS game.

    The Big East bowl games will have the following outcomes:

    Kentucky def UConn in the BBVA Compass Bowl.

    Pittsburg def North Carolina in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

    South Florida def Southern Miss in the Beef 'O' Brady's St. Petersburg Bowl.

    Virgina Tech def West Virginia in the Discover Orange Bowl.

    Kansas State def Syracuse in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.

Mountain West With Four Berths, Three Wins

    Game to Watch: TCU hung tough all season long. Now their hard work has paid off with a BCS game in the Rose Bowl.The Horned Frogs keep their winning streak going in this game.

    Here's how the Mountain West Bowl Season will turn out:

    TCU def Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.

    Navy def San Diego State in the S.D. County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

    Utah def Temple in the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl.

    Brigham Young def Southern Methodist in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl.

MAC With Five Berths, Two Wins

    Bowling Teams: Miami(OH), Temple, Toledo, Ohio, Northern Illinois

    Game to Watch: Toledo pulls off a huge upset against a good Nevada team in the Humanitarian Bowl.

    Look for these teams to pull off wins:

    Toledo def Nevada in the uDrove Humanitarian Bowl.

    Troy def Miami(OH) in the GoDaddy.com Bowl.

    Utah def Temple in the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl.

    Fresno State def Ohio in the New Mexico Bowl.

C-USA With Six Berths, One Win

    Bowling Teams: East Carolina, Southern Miss, UCF, UTEP, Tulsa, Southern Methodist

    Game to Watch: UCF will end up playing a pretty good team this year. All three of UCF's losses have been close games this year, so expect the Scarlet Knights to be up to the task of taking on a fighting Georgia team in the Liberty Bowl.

    Look for these teams to come away with victories: 

    Georgia Tech def East Carolina in the Military Bowl Presented By Northrop Grumman.

    South Florida def Southern Miss in the Beef 'O' Brady's St. Petersburg Bowl.

    Florida International def UTEP in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

    UCF def Georgia in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.

    Hawaii def Tulsa in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

    Bowling Teams: Iowa, Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan State, Penn State

    Game to Watch: Ohio State, after winning the Big Ten, will play in a BCS game. Terrelle Pryor is looking to finish his college football career with a bang. Pryor will have a solid finish to a 2010 in which many thought Ohio St. would be playing in the BCS National Championship game.

    Look for theses teams to grind it out for a win this Bowl Season:

    Iowa def Florida in the Gator Bowl.

    Michigan def Missouri in the Insight Bowl.

    Northwestern def Texas Tech in the TicketCity Bowl.

    Ohio State def Arkansas in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

    TCU def Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.

    Baylor def Illinois in the Texas Bowl.

    LSU def Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl.

    South Carolina def Penn State in the Outback Bowl.

    Game to Watch: Oklahoma will be, once again, playing in a big BCS game. Despite the loss of Heisman Trophy winner, Sam Bradford, the Sooners have strung together a great football season. Expect them to have a tough match up in the Fiesta Bowl.

    Look for the Big 12 to play in the following bowl games:

    Oklahoma def Stanford in the Tostidos Fiesta Bowl.

    Baylor def Illinois in the Texas Bowl.

    Kansas State def Syracuse in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.

    Michigan def Missouri in the Insight Bowl.

    Game to Watch: After starting the season with 2 straight losses, the Virginia Tech Hokies march on to a BCS bowl game. They have played great ball down the stretch and they don't look to lose any momentum going into bowl season.

    VTech def West Virginia in the Orange Bowl.

    Boise State def Miami(FL) in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.

    Florida State def Mississippi State in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

    Game to Watch: Sure, the BCS National Championship game will be great, considering Auburn looks to face a gritty Oregon team. But Arkansas is making a bid for the Sugar Bowl, which could mean an Arkansas versus Ohio State match up. This one could be one for the ages.

    Here's the projections for SEC teams in bowl games this year:

    Alabama def OK State in the Cotton Bowl.

    Ohio State def Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl.

    Auburn def Oregon in the National Championship Game.
