Sooners at Baylor: Back to Basics and Book Your Ticket to Arlington
Despite shooting themselves in the foot a couple times, the Sooners still hold their ticket to the Big 12 championship game.
Now, what do the boys in crimson and cream need to do in order to punch their ticket to Arlington, Texas? It’s simple, at least on paper.
They need to win at both Baylor and Oklahoma State. The key word there being AT.
If it’s one thing the Sooners have been good at this season, it’s being bad away from home. Near misses led to the inevitable losses.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde both would be proud of this team. As many have written (including yours truly), OU is dominant at home and just plain flat on the road.
Why is that?
So, I decided to write a simple plea today. A plea for the Sooners to play four quarters of good football on Saturday while having fun.
It’s a simple request from a simple fan to just go have fun. Enjoy the touchdowns, the hard hits and the sacks.
Enjoy the atmosphere and the band.
There are so many pressures in this world, and not one of them can be fixed on the Baylor football field this weekend. But what can be accomplished is growth, both as a team and as individuals.
Learn to play the game with passion and less like it’s a job.
Bottle up the feeling that you get when you come streaming out of the tunnel in Norman. Take a sip of it prior to stepping on the field in Waco.
Bask in the crowd noise and the green and gold, doing everything they can to take you out of the moment.
When it’s all said and done, you will walk out of that stadium knowing that at least you did your best. My contention is that your best is something we haven’t seen away from home all year.
See you in Arlington!
