How Will The DAWGS Win Every Game in 2008?
The winning equation for the dogs will be simple and the same against everyone, all twelve teams that they face this year.
Here is the equation; a lot of runs and few passes except as a surprise. Knowshon Moreno and Caleb King, even behind a young line will produce more than half the Bulldog offense this year. The young line will learn to run block before they learn to pass block. This is particularly true with a left tackle starting who has never started a game on the offense, much less at the critical left tackle role.
Stafford will sneak in a pass as soon as the defense sets up definitely for run, and he doesn't expect a rush. The pass will be used just enough to loosen defenses for the lightning moves of Moreno and King, and then used at selected moments to hammer out big break away plays through the air.
By mid-season, the line will have learned to pass block and if needed Stafford will be able to complete mid range and long range passes even on passing downs
The defense will start the season shutting down the run and the pass. I pity the team that gets behind to the Dawgs and has to start passing. It will be a continuation of what we all witnessed Georgia do to the vaunted Hawaii passing game last year.
The toughest game for Georgia will be Florida, and will probably be won by special teams unless Florida turns up with a sub-par defense. If they do, they will get shred too.
Bottom Line: This will be as good a Georgia defense as they have ever had. This will be the most potent and exciting offense that Georgia has had since perhaps the one year that Frankie Sinkwich and Charlie Trippi played in the same backfield, I believe it was 1942.
This team will be better than the Hershel Walker led team of 1980. Nothing like Hershel but lots more weapons.
